US job growth through March was significantly weaker than previously thought

The revision covers April 2024 through March 2025, which was basically all under Biden. Are the folks here blaming Trump now going to call out Biden?
Sure, but Biden’s overall numbers over four years easily surpass Trump’s four and three quarter years

What I’m interested in is to see is if the Fed, Wall Street, and businesses in general, continue to put faith in the new BLS reports. Knowing this Administration attempts to control all independent agencies makes the BLS bipartisanship suspect going forward

Ok? Outside of message boards, is there a jobs scoreboard we are all following? Jobs are obviously important, but the numbers alone don't tell the whole story. Someone juggling two jobs just to keep up makes the jobs number look good, but they may not feel like they're in a good financial place. Someone else may have a job but find their earnings don’t go as far because of inflation. Same deal, they may not feel all that great.

When people go to the polls and economics are top of mind, it’s usually not the jobs number that drives their decision.

As far as the BLS question, I don't think trust is gone but I think it's been shaken.

One of several economic indicators which when combined give us a portrait of approximately where the economy stands at any moment in time. Problem with economic indicators is that it is easy to find one or two to support any opinion but it is the collection of several that present a more accurate picture

Consumer prices, something Americans feel immediately, which effect voting

I don't disagree.

Regarding this thread though, I'm still laughing. There's a college football board I read. It's obviously something I'm passionate about so I like to hear what other fan bases are saying etc. The board can get political though at times and its largely #MAGA.

So when I saw this same story blowing up on that board, I did a serious double take. How are Signalmankenneth and #MAGA folks posting the same article? We know the reason now but it was surprising in real time.

Look at the responses. No one read the article, including the person who posted it. It's a fascinating view of tribalism and group think.

On jobs, of course they matter. But people here treat jobs like the ultimate scoreboard, and that’s just not the case.

People here treat virtually EVERYTHING like a political football. Crime. Immigration. The stock markets. A train wreck. Sports. Taylor Swift. Sorry, it's not just people you disagree with doing this.

No disrespect, but you're doing it here too. You didn't read it.

This story should be reported regardless of the network's or paper's political leanings, because it's important economic news. But you guys all assumed this was under Trump instead of Biden.
As I already said, see my post above and the quote included. There's a link to the source which clearly states "the first three years of the Biden administration." You're arguing just to argue.

For the record, I had no need to read the OP article because I was already aware of the news, having read it elsewhere. [insert gif of me sticking out my tongue]. lol

Oh, no doubt. Totally agree. The reason this one stands out is because the article didn’t actually say what the OP thought it said, and none of the people who responded seemed to read it either.

The US jobs market has been running in a much lower gear than previously thought, according to a preliminary report released Tuesday

The Bureau of Labor Statistics report suggests that the US economy added about 911,000 fewer jobs than initially estimated for the year ending in March. If this holds – the final annual benchmark revision will be reported in February 2026 – it would be the largest on record.

Tuesday’s estimated downward payroll revision is the first step in an annual benchmark review of jobs data conducted by the BLS.

Every year, the BLS seeks to provide a near-complete employment count by squaring past jobs data from business surveys (more timely but not as accurate) with comprehensive unemployment insurance quarterly tax filings (highly accurate but significantly lagged in timing).

This story is developing and will be updated.

Overwhelmingly over-reported under Biden.
