Update on the Rittenhouse trial

You are buying into the hype, the judge will not grant a mistrial and he will not hold anyone in contempt and he will not report anyone to the bar association, he's just blowing off steam and playing for the cameras. As long as he does not do it in front of the jury, I don't really care.

It seems there is good reason you are not a judge.

A judge does not have plenary power to simply put someone in jail, there has to be good reason and it is appealable. Judges have been sanctioned for doing it.

are you under the impression that the prosecutor runs the courtroom?????

I was listening to that exchange and the condescension in the voice of the prosecution was astounding to me. I would have been tempted to flat stop him before he got far enough into his explanation to tell him to guard his tone or he'd find himself in a cell tonight while he waited for the trial to start tomorrow. I've seen judges do it before. Contempt was clearly in the voice of the prosecution as he tried to "explain" like he was talking to someone who hadn't already ruled on that subject.

Why do so many of you guys get a hard -on for any man who yells?

The Prosecutor talking about Rittenhouse remaining silent is clearly a 5th amendment rights violation. The Judge was right to give him a tongue lashing.

He was right to sustain the objection, a judge should never talk to a person in his courtroom that way, its unprofessional, indicative of future bias, creates the appearance of bias, and is an abuse of the position of judge.

There are other ways to deal with such a situation, a good judge knows it, and those who practice in front of a good judge know not to push, not because they are afraid of a "tongue lashing." A good attorney is not afraid of a tongue lashing.

Why do you have a hard on for an idiot who can't do his job right? He brought something to trial because of political pressure that clearly shouldn't be there. Our courts should not be this idiot prosecutor's political football.

THE IGNORAMUS PROSECUTOR APPARENTLY THINKS THAT CITIZENS HAVE TO LET THE DEMTHUGS SHOOT YOU , BEFORE YOU CAN DEFEND YOURSELF...

That isn't how the Federal Courts in Dallas work.

Its not idiocy, it is abuse.

You would have a worse demeanor and be more abusive of your power than any judge I have ever practiced in front of.

I doubt that. Though I would control theatrics in front of the Jury. I spend a ton of time listening to trials that become political like this one. I would not be worse than some I have seen/heard (mostly heard, I do have to work). I believe you are absurd pretending you would laugh at judges in their courtroom, counselor. I believe you would sit submissively and take it, just like this idiot did.

I don't, I actually do not like the prosecutor, I do not like the type. I guarantee this prosecutor did not make the filing decision, he was given the case after that point to prosecute. To assume this particular prosecutor chose to file this case is ignorance on your part.

Yelling at someone in a courtroom is never acceptable. Especially when its the judge.

Oh, I wouldn't yell. I almost never see a need for that.

I would not laugh, but I would be dismissive of any yelling, I would not let it affect my behavior. I do not let anyone intiminidate me with anger or yelling. Afterward I would tell the judge it was inappropriate.

I lost my temper and yelled at a judge once, when I was a young, she politely told me not to do it again, and she was right to do so.

I lost my temper another time when I was very young, and I threw a file across the courtroom, the judge called me to the bench and calmly told me that she sympathized with me, but if I did it again she would call my supervisor at the State Attorneys office and complain. I did not do it again.
