I will second SouthernTea in commending your excellent post. Your advice is not only good for the world it is good for the US. If I could add one thing not to contradict but to add value... the PROGRESSIVE left (not the liberals) still want us to become more like Europe. That is clearly a mistake and Europe is moving back in our direction, again. Unfortunately, the damages of the Keynesian religion are once again inspiring some of their old tribalists. It is ironic and may be a good that they are being lead by Germany who knows well the dangers of that, though.
In the far east you guys need to help us check/moderate Putin, NK, Syria and Iran. I am not sure about Putin. Obviously, the Russian culture has not yet developed any respect for true liberals. They have Putin and anarchists. But he needs to loosen his grip or he will lose it.

Focus on your backyard. That is where your children play and grow. The frontyard is for your neighbors and should be kept reasonably tidy. But if it is gold plated and your backyard is a mess then your priorities are out of whack. Motes and fences are not neighborly. Neither is simple derision of your neighbor. You don't like his front yard offer REAL help. That is, help him to pretty it up according to his own tastes and offer some non binding suggestions.

Interestingly, the concept of "leading the free world" is a leftist idea. The Right opposed the League of Nations, getting into WWII, the UN, etc. I actually don't like it, myself, because I think we should focus on our own interests, and I lean in favour of Washington's farewell address.
Who do you honestly think is more in line with that... Obama or Romney? Johnson or either of the Paul's are preferrable but not likely.
If this is your honest opinion and you are not expecting to close a trap based on your taking Washington out of context
then your course is fairly clear.If you think your vote counts then you should vote for Obama. If you know that it does not then vote for Johnson, watch some tv, master.... again or reread the Farewell Adress.

Well, I am voting for Johnson, but I'm assuming a Romney victory. Yes, both parties are clearly Wilsonian, nowadays.
I seriously doubt it. Unless the economy takes another hit, Romney will lose. He has Akin and Santorum strongly on Obama's side while the NeoCons hide in the background pulling the strings. Clint and Rand Paul may sincerely prefer him but they are very hollow endorsements and Ron Paul will never be turned. They know what's behind the curtain.
Obama has much better people on his side. And he can sincerely call Kanye names while benefitting from his praise. Kanye is a great talent but obviously a bit temperamental and divisive at times. When he first blew up there was some need for division, though. Bush and his crew might not hate black people, but they clearly do not care enough. They are making the same mistakes with latinos and women and they will lose because of it.
You just want to be in control. Lead from behind or get out the way. Yes, the concerns of white males should be considered but there day of dominance is over.
You don't like the smell of the back of the bus. But trust me it is not so bad if you quit whining and realize their aint much stopping you from joining the party in the front except your over inflated ego. But your nose down and until it touches your original name.

I figure either Americans are going to get tired of falling farther and farther behind, or they will eventually get around to doing something about it. I'm not going to pretend that I can do a damn thing about it. Meanwhile, I will entertain myself by laughing at their stupidity. Especially if they re-elect Obama. That will be hilarious, watching as the debt spirals entirely out of control, nothing good comes to the IRS tax code, businesses pack up and move, etc.
At least I think Obama has a decent handle on defense. For all the crap that went down on Tuesday, he has proven more capable on defense than Bush did, and you can even factor the killing of OBL out of the equation to say that. This makes me a little happy, seeing as how I work in defense...

Come on dude, we know you have an actual brain, put it in gear. Congrats on your honesty about Obama's strength, but let's look at your perception of his weakness.
How many jobs left the country under Bush?
How many jobs did Mitt personaly send to China?
How much of the present national debt is from Bush?
How much less as a percentage did Obama increase the debt?
Could Obama have possibly not raised the debt, yet prevented worldwide depression?
Do you really see Romney improving the economy using the same tools with which Bush destroyed it?
You admit Obama is good with defense (foriegn policy). Surely you must admit that Romney will not do well with foreign policy.
As for you personaly, the GOP handling of military personel has been shameful at best. Surely you don't want to return to that do you?
Maybe you could do something about it if you would quit being so damn gullible. Romney is not going to do anything about the debt. The only person that could is Obama.
Outside of Rand Paul, all the speakers at the RNC called for big increases in defense spending. McCain got on stage and agrily called Obama's reductions in increases cuts in spending (thank a Democrat for that propaganda tactic). The first order of business will be to strike Iran and probably Syria. Who knows where that will lead.
He will not win. All Obama has to do is press him on this, whip up the Santorum wing and hope Biden does not blow it. Biden's job should be to show Ryan is not a libertarian or all that religious. He does not need to win his debate just wound Ryan and don't say anything too stupid.

Despite what is said on here (often by yours truly) I do think America will pull through, as will the UK and the rest of Europe. Greatness is a quality that should not be sought, it is bestowed on nations and people, often to their modest amazement.

Well said. We are NOT broken or bankrupt we have one hell of a fight on our hands because of 30+ years of underhanded corruption of our systems. It will happen I just don't know when and I hope it will be bloodless. If all of us unite against these pitiless, greedy bastards we will win and then we can get on with democracy and government by the people! Fair and equitable for all people.
We are fiddling (the religious morons) while the world burns. If there were a God they would be damned for eternity for what they're doing...and for what they're not doing to address the problems the world faces.

Yes, I know. That is why I chose the name. But false modesty is much better than false bravado. I don't know how old you are but most people above primary school age stop trying to paint themselves as better than they are and accept their limitations and get on with their lives.
