Univ. of Connecticut designating dorms "BLACK MALE ONLY"

All too many problems with getting people educated are identified as racial issues when in reality they are poverty issues. I agree that we shouldn't need black/identify as black specific centers, but rather centers for struggling (academically or financially) students.

I believe that if we as a country want to be diverse and color blind then things like this black male only dorm should not be encouraged or celebrated. When you go to college it is meant to prepare you for life and for a career and since like 99% of companies do not discriminate based on color it isn't going to do these people any favors in the long run to be in a dorm that doesnt live up to the demand for a diverse country. If you arent able to share a dorm with someone of a different race, whether you are black or white or asian or hispanic, then that's not the universities problem in my personal opinion it's your own problem. A dorm for just black males is just as bad as a white male only dorm or any other dorm for just one race of people. It is the opposite of what most people claim they want for our country.

Sorry but that's not true. Blacks come in last in all standardized tests. Even rich blacks do poorly. Most blacks can't read and cannot learn how to read. When your IQ is under 80, and that is half of american blacks, you are permanently illiterate.

Please TDaK, provide everyone a link corroborating your claims regarding blacks who cannot read and have an IQ of 80.
 
Could I get coverage of this from a non-right wing news source without all the spin? I want to know what's actually going on. The rightists here are only interested in pursuing their own collective delusion.
 
So what? You can get better at IQ tests by doing IQ tests. Whites just happen to do more IQ test type activities before taking an IQ test, on average, than blacks do, and have more training in it.

Look at the Flynn effect. Do you really think generation after generation is becoming dramatically more intelligent than the last generation? Are we evolving that fast? No, they're just better trained at the type of tasks that IQ tests measure. IQ is bullshit, propagated by a bunch of self-interested cranks too stupid to realize the flaws in their own data.
