Unemployment = 3.6%

That's actually pretty incredible.

Biden needs to do a better job at public relations. Trump would "brag" about the worst news. This is great news, and he's letting conservatives set the narrative on the economy.

dead cat bounce. getting more workers is great, but the economy is fucked

Must be a drag to feel like you have to talk the economy down all the time.
Im not. Dems were pros at that during Trumps outstanding economy.

But wages arent even keeping up with inflation, and those on fixed incomes are fucked over
The FED is coming in trying to clean up after Congression hyper-spending. it is what it is
Biden has screwed up with energy production regs - his own blame

Icant see a way out of this but a recession. I wish I was wrong, but a soft landing is very difficult

Trump left the economy in complete shambles.

wait till 6 more rate hikes by the Fed this year alone. I'm not saying a recession (not depression) isn't inevitabl
but that's historically how inflation is broken - no "soft landings"

wages spike / pries spike/ housing spikes -it's al lthere

For eight years, conservatives kept predicting Obama was going to crash the economy.

They also claimed in the early 1990s Bill Clinton was going to crash the economy.

The Trump economy was so outstanding that he lost millions of jobs and left with a stock market lower than when he took office. Only now is this President reclaiming all of the jobs that Trump lost. The Trump years were a true disaster.

It's not about P.R. or a narrative. Inflation isn't something abstract, people see it with their eyes (and pocket books) on a daily basis. You may have a job and your wages may have even increased but if inflation has eaten that all away you may not be thinking its a "booming" economy. That's just reality.

Edit: Was just reading the WSJ and this was in article on the stock and bond market today:

The movement in interest rates, and the nervousness that it may indicate a coming recession, is spooking some investors, even as employment numbers look solid, according to traders.

“The labor market is really strong. Why is this data not being celebrated more? It’s just the fact that inflation swamps everything,” said Michael Antonelli, managing director and market strategist at Baird. He added that clients with whom he speaks are taking a pause, having spent much of the first quarter shifting their investments in a wildly swinging stock market.

3.6%??? HAHAHA. What a joke. Jobless people on welfare do NOT count as unemployed!!!! Does that make sense?. Among whites the unemployment rate is actually 20% and for blacks its 80%.

the true unemployment rate in the U.S. is a stunning 26.1%...

If you measure the unemployed as anybody over 16 years old who isn't earning a living wage, the rate rises even further, to 54.6%. For Black Americans, it's 59.2%.

The real unemployment rate is probably somewhere between 10%-12%. Here’s why: the 3.7% is the U-3 rate, per the labor dept. But that’s the rate only for full time employed. What the labor dept. calls the U-6 includes what it calls discouraged workers (those who haven’t looked for work in the past 4 weeks). Then there’s what’s called the ‘missing labor force’–i.e. those who haven’t looked in the past year. They’re not calculated in the 3.7% U-3 unemployment rate number either. Why? Because you have to be ‘out of work and actively looking for work’ to be counted as unemployed and therefore part of the 3.7% rate.

The U-3 that gets cited as the "unemployment rate" is utter bullshit. The real rate is much higher and that's largely because the government subsidizes unemployment. That's gotten worse with Fauci Plague and now the Joke administration encouraging unemployment.

Trump left the economy in complete shambles.

Wrong. The PANDEMIC left almost every country's economy in complete shambles. And if you could clear your head of the TDS for a minute, you might remember him saying that his economy was robust enough to withstand the slump, and that it would come roaring back after his reelection. Well, we know what happened next. The irony is, I thought the tater head would be smart enough to do nothing about the economy, and then take credit for it, like he's trying to do with covid. But no, he had to go fuck with it and he broke it, so he pays for it....hopefully with his "job".

Donald Trumpf hollered that there would be a massive economic depression if Biden were elected.

tRump is notorious at being a pathological liar.

Economy adds 431,000 jobs in March as COVID fades but inflation soars; unemployment rate falls to 3.6%

U.S. employers added a booming 431,000 jobs in March as tumbling COVID-19 cases more than offset concerns about soaring inflation and the war in Ukraine.

The unemployment rate fell from 3.8% to 3.6%, the Labor Department said Friday. That puts it just above the 50-year low of 3.5% just before the pandemic upended the economy in March 2020.

Economists surveyed by Bloomberg had estimated that 440,000 jobs were added last month.

The economy has now added more than 400,000 jobs a month for 11 months, the longest such streak on record, Morgan Stanley noted in a report.

President Joe Biden touted the drop in unemployment – down from 6.4% when he entered office – as the “fastest decline in unemployment to start a president’s term ever recorded.”

The Federal Reserve considers a base unemployment rate (the U-3 rate) of 5.0 to 5.2 percent as “full employment” in the economy.

The recovery has now achieved that level, known technically as the Non-Accelerating Inflation Rate of Unemployment, or NAIRU.'

What President has NOT had a major crisis to try to navigate & lead through?

Trump had his, and he blew it. No one would say he was a good leader for the pandemic. And the economy suffered as a result.
