UN Secretary General condemns Occupation and Annexation in strongest terms
U.N. Secretary General Antonio Gutteres has warned that it is illegal to take or attempt to take territory by force. He stated that such actions violate the UN Charter which states are sworn to uphold.
"Any annexation of the state's territory by another state, resulting from the threat or use of force is a violation of the U.N. Charter and of international law."
Further, he emphasized that any state assisting another state in taking territory by force was also in breach of its UN Charter commitments. Such actions, he said ' ..undermine the very fabric of the United Nations and form a threat to world peace.
'War crimes ', he stated, 'that take place in territory illegally held would be subject to investigation and trial by the International Criminal Courts' and 'that states which assist war crimes are also subject to prosecution. '
.
.
Israel, therefore , must immediately withdraw from the Occupied Palestinian Territories and the United States must desist in aiding Israel in its occupation and crimes.
