About damn time! This is a state issue, not a federal one. There will be plenty of states you can go to to get an abortion regardless. There is no need for a federal law on this.

Obviously the Republicans no longer believe in unalienable rights. They also now believe, like the Democrats, that the Constitution limits our rights, not the Federal government.

The Republicans are now bigger authoritarians than the Democrats.

And the decision in June won't be a huge impact on the election, but it will serve to help unite and reinstall enthusiasm for the Democrats, especially when coupled with the most likely equally controversial Court decision on guns, principally in the Senate races.

Wrong. Abortion is not an "inalienable right." It isn't even enumerated as one in the Constitution.

You keep stating that - but it's low on the priority list of most people because most were complacent and thought Roe was safe. Why would it be an issue for a voter if they felt the right wasn't threatened?

The issues that will matter in November are: The economy first and foremost. That polls at about 60 to 75% as THE issue that will make up voter's minds. Inflation is next at around 50%. Taxes comes next also at about 50%. Right after those is immigration and border security at about 45%. Then it's a mix of things like education, healthcare, and voting rights issues. Abortion isn't in the top 10, and likely not even in the top 20 issues with people. Nobody gives a shit about it.

I mean, your posts on this represent more wishful thinking than anything. One of your immediate reactions was that this didn't create any big controversy - but the entire country is talking about it today, and people have flooded to DC.

Correct. The only thing that might stem the tide of authoritarianism and the installation of Trump as dictator is the overreach of the Republicans. Democrats refused to give their voters a reason for enthusiasm. But Republicans decided to step in and do it for them. It's truly remarkable. They now believe they can basically get away with anything.
