A woman and her son were arrested Wednesday in connection with the fatal shooting of a man who attempted to steal marijuana plants from their yard, police said.


Vanna Nomesiri and her son, Chinda, were arrested in connection with a Sept. 22 gunshot shooting and assault, the Sacramento Police Department said.


Police said that Vue Cheng, 29, was attempting to steal marijuana plants from a back yard. Residents confronted him after hearing shuffling in their yard, police said.


Police said they believe Cheng was shot and assaulted by the mother and son.


Cheng was pronounced dead at the scene.

Why were the mother and son arrested? Isn't it legal to shoot someone if they're stealing from you?

not in california. they don't believe in guns out there. If there had been no marijuana in the house or backyard, they most likely would not have been arrested after their guns were siezed and house torn apart by a search, but having marijuana there gave them all the excuse they need.
