Taibbi highlighted the FBI's social media task force established after the 2016 presidential election to monitor foreign interference prominently featured in the Twitter Files. "Do agencies like FBI and DHS do in-house flagging work themselves, or farm it out? ‘You have to prove to me that inside the f---ing government you can do any kind of massive data or AI search,’ says one former intelligence officer," Taibbi wrote.

I liked Taibbi when he was a kid that wasn't so obsessed with sensationalism.

The fact that the FBI has a program that deals with social media disinformation is not a secret. It was formed in '16 as a result of the election lies that were rampant.

The FBI has/had no power to ban anyone on social media, block them, or censor them.

They merely bring attention to the dangerous posts that are prevalent on all forms of social media. It's then up to the host to decide what to do with the user, and content

Taibbi should go back to quality reporting. He's a pretty intelligent wonk.

Musk called an innocent man a child molester on Twitter, and ended up in court.

He was angry because nobody wanted to use his stupid toy submarine to rescue that soccer team from the cave.

He will shut down Twitter in less than a year, as it's already a loss leader.

In other news, two of his top engineers are launching 'Spill'. A rival to Twitter.

Not dropped. Jury didn't go for the defamation claim.
