Tucker Carlson trashes the United States

Clean it is, almost antiseptic. In Putin’s town you think twice before dropping a candy wrapper on the sidewalk.

I have been to Moscow. Tucker is deep into the propaganda if he thinks it is better than cities in America.

Think about this, which way do the immigrants flow?

The typical MAGAT will tell you that the reason Russia isn't being overwhelmed with icky brown people is because Putin is such a strong leader and won't allow them in. The lack of migration, of course, has nothing to do with authoritarianism, lack of opportunity, shitty economy, few jobs, poor health care, and so on.

Remember when they hated Jane Fonda for doing what Tucker did?

True. To this day there are ppl who won't watch anything that she appears in. Their hate and distrust of CNN began when she married Turner, remember that? But TUCKER! He's the BEST! :rofl2:

Bet not a single one of them has stopped to ponder why one of the world's most ruthless and powerful leaders would give an interview to a basic nobody like Carlson. What's that word? Propaganda something?

Huge numbers of Russians are trying to get into the USA. Almost no Americans are trying to get into Russia.

And it is sad really as I think Russia would have had a real chance to vie with China, in the last 30 years, to be the real power in that region.

Had Putin instead continue the Gorbachev reforms and pushed to continue to build the middle class, and instead opened Russia up as the 'Bridge between Asia and Europe' and focused it on Technology and other emerging areas, i think Russia would have been a massive destination for investment and a lot of the smartest migrants who left India and other far east countries to go to America and Canada and Ireland and elsewhere.

Moscow as a giant dynamic city with a great history, AND A SHORT FLIGHT TO HOME, and a populace that was very hungry and innovative, would have greatly appealed to every big Tech company to host their Eur/Asia home.

BUt Putin, like Trump, just cannot play the long game. They instead look to rape the middle class and below and take it all up to the Oligarchs which actually makes everyone poorer over the long run as the country's wealth collapses.

I haven't been to Moscow but recently happened to catch part of a Youtube walking tour of the downtown. Streets and buildings looked clean as a whistle. Was a sunny summer day. Hardly anyone was out there.

Good analysis. The war with Ukraine put the nail in their economic coffin. Russia desperately needs a moderate, non-nationalistic, leader. So do we. Putin and Trump are death to both nations.

I know Alaska is full of Russians who have left Russia and have no plans of going back. They love America.

Makes you wonder how accurate it was, eh?

My best friend from nursing school is from Ukraine. She has an elderly aunt who lives in Moscow and apparently is quite poor because Oksana sends her money every month to help her get by. Unfortunately the aunt is the Russian equivalent of an American MAGAT. She loves Putin and thinks he can do no wrong. She believes there are Nazis in Ukraine and that the war is righteous. Despite Oksana sending her non-propaganda stuff, the aunt calls that "fake news" and says it is all made up by the West to discredit Vlad. Ignorance knows no geopolitical boundaries, does it?

I was in Moscow when it was part of the Soviet Union, the streets were spotless, and the marble statues in the subway were kept clean. The lines for food, however, were very long.

Interestingly, there were no homeless people camping on the streets, I wonder where they put them?

Putin has locked Russia into the ways of generation past necessary (for them) wars.

The Soviet Union was forced to continually gobble up neighboring countries, as there system could not compete with the West and they were falling further and further behind over time. The way to bolster that is to eat up other countries resources and push that wealth up to the Oligarchs who will then forgive the the lack of GDP, and real ability to build wealth.

Under Putin, Russia was greatly lagging and he was seeing other countries beginning to prosper, even as Russia under performed greatly.

It was Ukraine's ongoing reforms and confidence that was beginning to inspire in foreign countries and investors that scared Putin the most.

The above is what Putin feared the most and why he felt he had to invade.

The reforms of Ukraine and pushing out of Putin's Oligarchs was working and if Ukraine was left to continue to move towards prosperity, there would be no way for Putin to hide what that would say to his own people.

Putin attacked as a new massive wave of foreign Capital was flowing into projects in Ukraine, especially in port areas like Odessa, which looked to become a world leading beach and resort destination.

If Putin did not attack and Ukraine realized all that wealth and growth it would make any future attack near impossible. Also in Putins vision the Ukraine invasion was simply a change of a control with little to no fight, and he would hope to bring Russia the benefits of a growing Ukraine.

Putin was trapped as too many average and wealthy Russians knew Ukraine to well. They traveled their vacation. They had friends and family there. And if Putin's citizens (poor and wealthy) saw Ukraine prosper and soar while Russia continued to tank, it would beg the question why? And there was one key answer Putin could not allow which was 'they pushed out Putin and his Oligarchs and allowed for reform'. Putin had to end that.

There is a special kind of cold in Moscow. I know there are places in America like Bismarck, North Dakota that are a bit colder outside, but those tend to have warm buildings. Moscow has cold buildings.

You might say that Russia can do nothing about that, and you would be right.

What Russia can do something about it the rampant criminality, both major and petty. Everyone expects bribes. If you are in business, you need bodyguards, or you will be kidnapped. Employers refuse to pay their workers, and workers refuse to work without being paid more than the agreed salary. There is no way to have a contract enforced in court. Even freelance software negotiations will involve guns, and be like cocaine deals in America.

Right now, Putin has moved on from arresting people for being against the war, on to people who say the war is poorly planned. They were arresting people for saying the word "war" even in terms of the book War and Peace. Then they were arresting people for holding up blank signs saying nothing. They just sentenced Igor Girkin, who was a strong supporter of Putin's invasion of Ukraine, and was the architect behind Crimea. He is looking at four years in a death camp for saying that the war was poorly run. He is given a 50/50 chance of surviving.

There are several million Russians hiding out in places like Turkey, the Gulf States, Georgia(the country), Latin America, and where ever they can go. Almost all would love to come to the USA.
