I think Time was either short sighted or just didn't look at Khashoggi's track record. He was given the honor posthumously.

Jamal Khashoggi was a practicing, active member of the Muslim Brotherhood. He went to school with Osama Bin Laden. They were buddies. But they diverged in terms of tactics.

Bin Laden decided to go the terrorist route and Khashoggi went the Muslim Brotherhood route, which is… I mean, it’s pro-violent.

He was NOT for Western style democracy.
