Trump has never attempted to expand his base. He is "us against them". Trump cannot even get previous presidents to show up at his convention. He has insulted them too viciously for them to wave it away. Trump relies on stirring up hate and keeping his followers angry. This board shows how well that works.

He is losing the electoral college as it stands.

I think the conventions are not going to change many minds. People's minds are made up.

DT was able to get away with squeaking by in 2016 because the mushy middle that doesn't pay attention only heard how bad Hillary was, so they decided to take a chance on DT. They did not do their research, did not see how messed up DT is.

Now they have seen how bad DT is, so that's not happening again. The mushy middle gave DT a chance and DT blew it. He is not getting another chance from people who have wised up.

Plus, Joe Biden does not have the baggage that Hillary had.

This election has become a referendum on Trump. The ballot should read: "Do you approve of Trump, yes or no."

Trump can't carry the swing States with just his base. He needs to attract some additional voters and hope the incensed left does not turn out in force.

That is going to be a huge problem for Trump. Those voters who sat it out in 2016 are now abhorred at his performance and motivated to vote him OUT.
