Teabaggers did not previously attempt to cling to the word "tricked".
Teabaggers spent message board careers claiming that blacks only vote Democratic "to get free stuff".
We all know what exactly is meant by "voting to get free stuff". It is exactly the same lexicon and innuendo as "welfare queens", "shifty layabouts", and all the other racially-charged language conservatives have used to paint black people as lazy, welfare-hogging, allergic to hard work, and selfishly seeking handouts - that they are a group of people who cannot be trusted to vote for the nation's or the community's best interests.

As has been mentioned, all demographics of voters get tricked to some extent.
In fact, politics is a ‘tricky’ business. And of course, and again, we’re all the same so blacks can be tricked into voting a certain way and it’s undeniable they have been.
Blackness is just the amount of melanin in the epidermis, at the end of the day.
But a ‘reparations study’ is a particularly craven attempt at getting the black vote. Or should I say, keeping Trump from making any significant in-roads into the black vote on account of the record black employment numbers.
In that sense it’s a bit of a gambit because some blacks will be lost on account of it. It’s just a tad transparent.

I will say reparations has been written about and discussed for decades within certain portions of the black community. So this isn't new. And black voters have been voting Democratic for a long time now, well before the discussion of reparations has reached this point. As we've seen there hasn't been much of a movement of black voters towards the Republican Party.
I see it more as a natural progression of progressive policies and politics.
I am immune to belated and tepid attempts to cover up and disguise the original racist code language and bigoted innuendo conservatives employed about lazy blacks voting to get FREE STUFF.

To my knowledge reparations has never been broached by any political campaign—or at least by one that considered itself anything resembling mainstream.
