The Manatee County Sheriff's Office is investigating two armed robberies from late Monday morning that they believe are connected.

The first incident took place 10:37 a.m. Monday at Aspen Dental, located at 5231 University Pkwy. According to a release, a suspect entered the dental office and pointed a handgun at the two receptionists and demanded their wallets. Deputies said the receptionists ran away towards the back offices.

"The suspect then turned onto a gentleman who was sitting in the reception area and demanded his wallet," a release states. "He complied with the suspect's demand and handed the suspect his wallet."

According to the sheriff's office, the suspect then fled out the front door.

The suspect was described as a male in his 20s, wearing a long sleeve blue shirt, blue jeans, and black shoes. According to a release, the suspect was armed with a small black semi automatic pistol.

"Detectives believe the two are connected," Manatee County Sheriff's Office spokesman Dave Bristow said in an email to members of the press shortly after 2:30 p.m. Monday.

The second incident took place minutes later at 10:44 a.m. at a Taco Bell located at 8405 Lockwood Ridge Road. According to a release, a man in his 20s entered the restaurant, walked to the counter, brandished a firearm and demanded the money from the register.

"The suspect also demanded money from the three employees, but only one had his wallet on him," a release states.

Deputies said an employee opened the register and the suspect then reached over the counter, retrieved the cash tray from within the register, set it on the counter, and pulled the currency out of it. According to a release, one of the Taco Bell employees threw his wallet on the counter at the same time. The suspect took the wallet and left out of the south doors, the sheriff's office said.

The suspect was described as having short blond hair and dressed in a long sleeve blue Echo Unlimited shirt, blue jeans, and black shoes.

Dr. John Wolf, a well-known New York dentist, has been arrested and charged with exchanging dental work for methamphetamine and possessing hundreds of child-porn videos.

Even more disturbing, the criminal complaint said a drug-dealing informer told federal authorities that Wolf, who is HIV-positive, claimed to have poked holes in his condoms “in an intentional attempt to spread the H.I.V. to his sexual partners.”

In audio recordings provided to the feds, Wolf allegedly discusses raping animals and, on one occasion, drugging a man with ketamine before sexually assaulting him. In separate recordings made by an undercover FBI agent, Wolf allegedly brags about drugging both “willing and unwilling adults during drug-fueled sex parties” and says it would be “hot” for him and the agent to sexually abuse kids together.

The agent recently rendezvoused with Wolf at his Chelsea office, where the doctor was recorded saying he hosted orgy parties in the office basement, according to the criminal complaint. Wolf described one video he really enjoyed in which an "8-year old ‘retarded’ girl” is raped.

A 21-year-old former babysitter accused of kidnapping a 2-year-old could barely stand up in court on Monday while doctors and attorneys called her “suicidal” and “psychotic” as she entered a not guilty plea.

Abigail Hanna of Topsfield, Mass., is being held without bail after she allegedly kidnapped baby Lyndon Albers on Thursday by breaking into the family's home while they were asleep.

Hanna knew the family after working as a former baby-sitter for little Lyndon.

The toddler was found beaten, bruised and naked on the side of the road with her head shaved a few hours after she was reported missing at 7 a.m.

She also had cigarette burns on her body when she was discovered alone some eight miles away from home.

Alabama high school students are still rallying in support of a star football player as he faces rape charges and sickening new details of the alleged attack have emerged.

Friends of 18-year-old Cameron Harrison painted the running back's jersey number on their wrists and shirts and cheered for him in his absence during the Spanish Fort High School's big playoff game last Friday, Al.com reported.

The 5-foot-8 athlete was banned from the Class 6A game and is on house arrest after he bragged about raping a 16-year-old classmate while she was unconscious at a party.

A Houston man wrote “come sleep with daddy’s little girl” in a Craigslist posting and got caught trying to sell sex with the 4-year-old for $1,000, prosecutors said.

An undercover Houston vice squad officer captured Andrew Turley, 28, after the sicko discussed his "casual encounters" section ad in 30 emails and later showed off a sedated, naked girl in a bed, said Jeff McShan, a public information officer in the Harris County District Attorney’s Office.

Turley had told the undercover cop “it may not fit in” but said the officer could “do whatever he wanted” to her, McShan said.

A 38-year-old youth pastor was arrested on suspicion of sexually assaulting several women ranging from their late teens to early 20s, the Orange County Sheriff’s Department said Saturday.

Sean Patrick Aday of Lake Forest was arrested on suspicion of rape, sodomy, penetration with a foreign object and sexual assault, following a traffic stop on Friday, said sheriff’s Lt. Jeff Hallock. He was booked into Orange County Jail and released Saturday morning on $500,000 bail.

A woman told police an abductor raped her up to six times a day while she was held captive over a five-week period in rural Alaska, with the last attack committed as she heard a military evacuation helicopter landing near the man's remote cabin to take her to a hospital.

The woman said Daniel Selovich, who goes by the nickname Pirate, used duct tape to bind the two together at night and placed a rope around her neck so she couldn't run away, Alaska State Trooper Matthew Iverson wrote in an affidavit.

She said, "it would be better for her to run away from the cabin and possibly be eaten by a bear than continue being physically and sexually assaulted by Daniel," Iverson wrote.

Selovich was arraigned this week on kidnapping, sexual assault and assault charges in Fairbanks Superior Court.

A babysitter was arrested in connection with an Oro Valley child abuse investigation.

Jennifer Taylor, 34, was booked into the Pima County jail on one count of child abuse, the Oro Valley Police Department said in a news release Tuesday.

A local and state investigation indicated Taylor was caring for a 10-month-old baby when the baby suffered head trauma. Emergency surgery was performed on the baby at Banner University Medical Center.

The New Hampshire prep school grad who was convicted of sexually assaulting a 15-year-old classmate has registered as a sex offender in Vermont.

Owen Labrie's picture appeared on Vermont's registry this week after his conviction in August.

He was convicted of using a computer to entice a minor for sexual contact and misdemeanor sexual assault charges, including statutory rape. However, he was acquitted of the most serious charge of felony rape.

After the sentencing, Judge Larry Smukler called Labrie "a very good liar.

Police originally nabbed Archer for driving without a license, and brought her to Kingsport jail. A female officer was doing a routine check when she noticed Archer was packing heat in her privates.

They pulled out a North American Arms 22LR revolver, which was reported stolen in 2013 from a retired car salesman. He said he hadn't seen the gun since it was stolen from his 1994 Mustang.

After finding out where his pistol had been, he said the gun would need a "bath in bleach."

A Payson man was indicted by a federal grand jury Wednesday for allegedly making a bomb threat against a hospital, and charges in a related case claim he made the threat so he could arrive at the hospital in time to see his child born.

Michael Sherman Morlang, 26, is accused of calling Sevier Valley Medical Center with the threat. He is charged in U.S. District Court of Utah with “maliciously convey(ing) false information knowing the same to be false, concerning an attempt being made unlawfully to damage and destroy a building, by fire and an explosive,” court documents say.

U.S. Attorney’s Office spokeswoman Melodie Rydalch said Morlang’s threat severely affected Sevier Valley Medical Center.

An Indiana man who admitted stealing human tissue from a medical museum received a four-year jail sentence Wednesday.

Marion County Prosecutor Terry Curry said that 21-year-old David Charles had pleaded guilty to burglary and had three years of his sentence suspended.

Curry said Charles admitted to breaking into the Indiana Medical History Museum several times to steal jars of preserved tissue.

Investigators matched a bloody fingerprint on a white piece of paper left at the crime scene to Charles.

Charles tried to sell the tissue through his Facebook page. In one status update, Charles wrote " yo I got a bunch of human brains in jars for sale hit me up for details u know u want one for Halloween."

As part of Charles' sentence, he is required to obtain a high school diploma or GED.

A Florida man who killed his wife and posted a photo of the bloody corpse on Facebook was convicted Wednesday of second-degree murder after failing to convince a jury that he shot her eight times in self-defense.

"She was trying to take me out," Medina said in the statement.

A medical examiner, however, testified that the eight shots were all fired downward toward Alfonso and that the position of her body on the kitchen floor indicated she had been cowering on her knees when killed.

Defense attorneys sought unsuccessfully to admit evidence from a purported "shadow" expert they said indicated two upright figures were fighting in reflections in the kitchen's stainless steel sink.

Medina was also convicted of illegally firing a weapon inside a dwelling and with child neglect because Alfonso's 10-year-old daughter was in the home at the time of the slaying.

Wendy Luper, 45, was arrested after fighting her ex-husband on what sex position to be in, according to court records. She is charged with domestic battery for the sexual dispute, police said.

She and her ex-husband Michael Vaccaro went to a storage unit on Saturday afternoon to pick up some of his things. While parked, Luper undressed and asked if he wanted to have sex.

He gladly obliged, and asked his ex-wife to lay down. She refused to have sex on her back, and the scolded ex-husband didn't want to have sex in any other position, court documents showed.

The two started arguing, and Vaccaro walked away. When he came back, Luper told him to get his stuff out of her car and chucked an object at him, cutting his forehead open. He fell back from the hit, and Luper yelled at him to "f--- off." She then ran over his right foot while he was half-way in the car, according to her affidavit.

When cops arrived, the sexually frustrated ex-wife denied the attack, and told police Vaccaro wanted to have sex with her.
