What's even the point of the ban if you don't prohibit visitors? If a person wanted to go to the US to commit terrorism, a visitors visa would do well enough. Why would you go through the whole complicated immigration progress at all?

The point is not to enforce it but to "say" it. The entire thing is unenforcable in any case. You can always just say you are hare krishna and you will be let in.

Does that mean it has no value?

No. Anyone who thinks that cannot think critically. At the end of the day moderate islam, if it exists, will be the one to kill extreme islam. Bush and Obama both tried the carrot approach. It wasnt Islams fault etc etc. The end result? More terrorists now than ever and the other ME countries not really helping stomp the threat out in their own backyard. The definition of insanity is trying the same thing over and over again and expecting a different result. Trump is now trying the stick. Essentially saying " The terrorism other people in your religion is hurting your image so much so that we would consider banning you from entering the states". Hopefully once the other ME countries realize that the extremists hurt their image then they will be more active.

Will it work? Maybe. Im not sure but hopeful. Better than trying something proven not to work.

Pretty much it: stake out a hardcore position with the intent of settling for something less. But some people get stuck on send with the xenophobia thing so there's that.

I'm convinced some people just can't think clearly when it comes to Trump lol.
