The only thing that helped you NJ's out this time around is low voter turnout. It's the only way you can ever win, either during the mid terms or the General Election. It's not always going to be so, but do continue gloating!

The low voter turn was due to the two terrible candidates: granny.

Had a Marco Rubio or some such been the Republican candidate, the turn would have been much higher on the right.
