The shutdown was entirely of Trump and the GOP's own doing.
Trump ended up signing the same bill passed in December unanimously in the Senate.
So the shutdown was a strategic choice Trump made that didn't pay off the way he had hoped. And he strengthened the Dems' hand after they had already wiped out the GOP House Majority.
Why should Democrats work with Trump after the voters delivered a mandate to not do that just 3 months ago?
