It is phony. This has not been tested properly. Trump puts huge pressure on medical organizations that other presidents were hands off on. He slams the CDC and FDA. He honors and respects nothing. He pressures them to forgo the rigors of testing they usually do.
Yesterday Trump said it showed some efficacy. Today he said it was proven safe and effective. When asked about that conflict he stomped off.

If you want to say it’s harmful—stop speculating about it and let’s see some data on plasma transfusions.

I’ve decided Fauci isn’t all that impressive lol.

No one has a problem with RCT’s—they have their place, but in the middle of a pandemic isn’t it. In this instance random trials wouldn’t be done over safety considerations but only for efficacy.

IOW, blood plasma isn’t something novel that was produced in a pharmaceutical lab and never used on anything but rats before. It’s just the opposite: plasma is a natural product. Better yet, it’s a product of *the human body*.

Maybe someone can correct me, but not aware of an existing contraindication for a patient receiving plasma. It’s essentially the same as receiving a blood transfusion. Plasma is blood that’s been run through a centrifuge. I think the plasma is heavier but it’s been a minute lol.

The point is Fauci should know better than this. He’s way too rigid in his thinking—he’s stuck on RCT’s.

Predictably, since it was Trump’s initiative, the left and the media are trying to make a boogeymen out of a routine treatment that’s used probably a few times a day in each medium sized hospital in the country—and it’s been going on for decades.

The only difference is this time it’s being used for COVID. There’s an odd ball chance the antibodies in the convalescent plasma might cause the virus to proliferate—or whatever.

Here’s the question: when do you want to find out? Six months from now or weeks from now? That’s basically what it boils down to.

Think of it this way: let’s go the RCT route. After six months convalescent plasma is found to be both safe and effective. Meanwhile, 20,000 people who might have benefited from it have died.

Fauci would be standing up there telling us ‘well, at least we did it safely and didn’t harm anyone with it’.

That’s exactly what Fauci and the left is advocating. They did the same thing with early HCQ treatments.

Never seen anything like it.

Nope. It is not a big deal. The reality of this 'emergency approval' is that it's nothing more than Trump publicity stunt. The therapy is already being used. The evidence of even minor effectiveness is very unclear. It's just teeing up the obvious Trump move of pushing the FDA to give emergency approval to a vaccine that hasn't completed phase three trials in hopes it will stop the bleeding of his campaign. It wont. What's funny though is that all the antimaskers and anti-vaxers will have a difficult choice. Worship their Orange God and get a not fully tested vaccine, or reject it. Zero chance I'm going to take something that hasn't completed clinical trials. So it will be Trumps attempt at an October surprise, but he's so ham-handed that he's telegraphed it two months out.
