Right, in that situation their is a compelling government interest in keeping the basis classified, an active investigation.

Trump is threatening to release (made up) documents, so I assume their is no basis for keeping them classified. If there is no compelling government interest for keeping them classified they should be released. If there is a compelling government interest for keeping them classified they should be released.

Trying to embarrass your opponent is not a compelling government interest.
