April 25 (Reuters) - A New York judge on Monday held former President Donald Trump in contempt of court for not producing documents subpoenaed in the state attorney general's civil probe of his business practices, and ordered Trump to be fined $10,000 per day until he complies.

Trump lost a bid to quash a subpoena from state Attorney General Letitia James, then failed to produce all the documents by a court-ordered March 3 deadline, later extended to March 31 at his lawyers' request.

The judge, Arthur F. Engoron, ordered Mr. Trump to comply with a subpoena seeking records and assessed a fine of $10,000 per day until he satisfied the court’s requirements. In essence, the judge concluded that Mr. Trump had failed to cooperate with the attorney general, Letitia James, and follow the court’s orders.

“Mr. Trump: I know you take your business seriously, and I take mine seriously,” said Justice Engoron of State Supreme Court in Manhattan, before he held Mr. Trump in contempt and banged his gavel.

The same thing that happens anytime someone doesn't pay taxes or fines.

The government can withhold any tax refunds. The government can legally seize Trump property and sell it to pay off the fines.

But even worse for Trump would be the fact that his banks likely will have codicils requiring that he pay any legal judgements or they can call the loans.

All Trump has to do is set up a go fund me webpage, and ask his obsequious fan boys and worshippers on this board and in MAGA land to donate their money to pay his fines.
 
Trump can cover it with donations. He uses them to his advantage as a rule. Trump will appeal again and delay, delay delay. The law is for little people.
