Trump tariffs create budget surplus

Agree. Capitalism exists to make money. Corporations are not going to invest in making products that -- even with tariffs -- can still be imported and purchased for less than what they can be made for here. I like my jeans example because it also illustrates another thing about why tariffs won't work. Jeans, of course, are made out of woven fabric. We have few, if any, textile manufacturers left in the U.S. So to tool up an American jeans-making factory is going to also require a denim-making textile factory. Where do the materials -- plastics (polyester), cotton, etc. come from? Not here. So there's another issue. You can use just about any product for an example. Televisions. Shoes. Cell phones.

FoulWoman hates me because I see through her lies. Like her husband had 15% ejection fraction and a medical doctor said he was capable of work. A 15% EF is end stage cardiac disease and people with that severe cardiac dysfunction are generally wheeler chair bound because walking across the room is too taxing for them. I'm not suggesting that at some point Mr. Owl may have had a 15% EF just that ANY DOCTOR told him he was capable of work when he had a documented EF of 15%. That is absurd.

Wow, you're even more obsessed with me than your toxic twat gf. Apparently you completely missed one of my posts that you appear to hang on so ardently. When that conversation, about how hard it is to qualify for disability and/or Medicaid, began, I stated that his EF was 15%. I also stated that he couldn't walk out to his truck w/o experiencing angina and shortness of breath. He was incapable of even walking into a 7-11 or a Walgreens without having to rest. I did 100% of our shopping. HIs cardiologists said he would probably die within a year -- end stage, "doctor." Yet the Medicare doc he had to see before being approved for SS disability said he was still capable of working. Thankfully his cardiologists went to bat for him, along with an attorney, and he was finally approved, but it took nearly a year. This is quite common with social security disability applicants. See evidence, below.

In the immortal words of Thailand Tommy, you are an odious cunt. :ROFLMAO:

IDK. Are we making money? You take the word of Trump's sycophants but I'd love to see the actual numbers.

If the budget surpluses last longer than a month, I'll be among those applauding despite Trump signing a bill that increases the national debt by $3.4T. We, the People, could certainly need the money to pay off debt instead of just kicking the can down the road for your children to pay off.
And the fact is that most of the money coming in from Trumps tariffs is being paid by the US consumer.

And when you're losing you use filthy language and personal attacks...;)
I ❤️ Irony
Why are you always a cunt? :maga grin:
Double tap. Double tap. Fucking wimp-assed cunt. Can't even face a man one on one unarmed. What a fucking coward...
No casualties, missiles intercepted. The attack was not entirely unexpected – satellite images showed the U.S. moved most of its unhangered aircraft out of Al Udeid last week. So basically a broke dick Iran trying to show it can still almost get it up. Of course Phanta applauds anything that would result in the "death of America". Fucking sick cunt.
Ok lurchfag obviously you refuse to answer the actual question or don't understand it.

Has not one fucking thing to do with history.

Try being slightly less of a cunt would you?
Trump Annoys Cunt Opposition

100% I was going to post something similar but addressing her is like throwing pearls to swine.
Thanks, but that dumbass pig blocked me ages ago, too lazy to read anything longer than a meme anyway. Still, I bet she’s sneaking peeks at my posts, too vain to resist. Her stupidity is staggering, but what really floors me is her seething hatred for @TOP. I’ve never seen TOP sling anything close to the vile, direct insults she and her ilk spew daily, it’s got to be raw jealousy eating her alive.

TOP’s actually liked around here, while she’s stuck with a sad little fan club of delusional, brain-dead, twisted losers who’d rather gargle her nonsense than think for themselves. It must sting. Every time she opens her mouth, flashing that nicotine-stained tooth to any poor soul in range, her deranged sycophants trip over themselves to smash the thumbs-up button, pledging their undying loyalty like the pathetic drones they are.

Since he wasn't debating anything with you, as you're incapable of adult discussion, @Tbird19482 lost nothing. You think you "won" because you provoked him into calling you what you are. Now run along and scold your married bf H10 for screaming "SUCK MY DICK" and "FUCK U" in your "tribute thread." Scoot!

Someone earlier, I think Nordberg maybe? explained that revenues do go up in certain months -- he said April and Sept. -- due to quarterly taxes being paid. The same thing happened twice last year, he stated. Yet we didn't see Biden crowing about it, did we?

trump knows nothing about tariffs, or the economy. If he's going to continue to play his game, he's admitting that prices are too low. No matter what happens, they are going to go up and stay up. The question is whether or not people want to pay American labor ten times as much as taxed overseas labor?

There are also enviro issues that will keep corps. from coming here. Whereas trump will do away with them, future sane administrations will reimplement them.

IF he was interested in bringing manufacturing here, he would be using the billions in tariff money that consumers have been paying to build factories. Instead, he's funding tax cuts, CEO pay, and dividend hikes.

His tariff game is all political theater. His dementia is getting worse.

Apparently so is that of his followers.

Instead of punishing with tariffs and giving away no-strings tax cuts to zillionaires, why not offer tax incentives to companies who have offshored to return?

  • The federal government collected $26.6 billion in tariff revenue in June, a notable increase as President Trump's tariff policies took effect.
  • This surge in revenue, combined with a decrease in government spending, resulted in a budget surplus of about $27 billion for the month of June.
  • Customs duties for the month were up 301% compared to June 2024.
  • The Treasury Department reported $27 billion in customs-duties revenue for June, bringing fiscal year-to-date inflows from levies to $113 billion, according to the agency's monthly budget statement. https://www.google.com/search?q=tra...NTA5OGowajE1qAIAsAIA&sourceid=chrome&ie=UTF-8
There is one little problem with those collected tariffs. The US court of trade has ruled that the tariffs imposed by Trump are illegal. The appeals court did grant a stay which allowed Trump to continue to collect the tariffs while the court heard the case and decided. Both the left and the right have filed amicus briefs opposing the tariffs pointing out that lower court didn't actually go far enough in it's ruling but that all Trump tariffs are illegal and not allowed under the law or the Constitution.

When and if the appeals court upholds the lower court ruling, all of the collected tariffs will have to be returned to those that paid them.

Not a business guy, but am content to wait'n'see.

FWIW, given all of the Trumpian lies in less than six months, I don't have a lot of hope. Especially after he's flip-flopped on so many promises. Not just "failed to fulfill a promise", but actually broken them.

As mentioned to @Damocles, while it's expected the Democrats will bitch and moan, it's when the MAGAs start bitching and moaning about Trump that his presidency becomes very interesting. LOL
