Trump supporters could be incited to future violence by his continued promotion

Of 2020 election lies, DOJ and judges say

Former President Donald Trump's continued promotion of the "big lie" about the 2020 election could still incite his followers to violence, the Justice Department and judges noted repeatedly this week, as courts weigh the future dangerousness of US Capitol riot defendants.

Two federal judges this week brought up the disinformation about 2020 from right-wing figures, and even Trump himself, as they considered keeping alleged Capitol rioters in jail before trial.

And prosecutors from the Justice Department are arguing more explicitly that violent threats stemming from Trump-backed conspiracy theories are still alive, and that Trump supporters could be called to act again.

"It's never too late" for pro-Trump extremist groups like the Proud Boys to mobilize, because the right-wing political climate hasn't shifted much since Trump left office, federal prosecutor Jason McCullough argued at a hearing for one of the accused Proud Boys leaders earlier this week.

The comments from prosecutors and judges demonstrate how Trump's post-presidency lying about 2020 is complicating matters for some of his most ardent supporters -- including people who heeded his call to come to Washington on January 6 and are now in jail cells awaiting trial.

This country cannot last if things like that stand.

what about the continued iolence from blm and antifa and progressive democrats across the nation for the last 16 months , will you comment on that guano

The former president's insistence on what the MSM call 'the Big Lie" should be an embarrassment to any American who believes in our democratic institutions. Not even AG Barr found any proof of Trump's claim, had he, you know he would have spoke out. I was amazed this election that several republicans I know well told me they were voting for a democrat for the first time. I am an independent as I am not a joiner. Freedom means making decisions and leading your life free of group affiliations except maybe in sport.

While I am not a fan of think tanks, they appear to be corporate funded thinking rather than human directed but here is a conservative think tank that agrees the election was on the up and up.

All this rumor and baloney concerning the big lie is only making America look like a banana republic. Time people woke up and recognized they live in a well run nation, not perfect yet but trying....

Cities Drop Most Charges Against BLM Protesters as Cops Fail to Provide Evidence

In Houston and Los Angeles, The Guardian found, 93 percent of charges were either dropped or never filed; in some cities like Dallas and Philadelphia, that number rose to 95 percent of charges dropped or never prosecuted. Meanwhile, in San Francisco, 100 percent of 127 cases related to peaceful protesting were dropped.

The extremely high percentage of protest-related charges ultimately being dropped or dismissed suggests that police may have been using arrests as a tactic to prove that the protests were unruly and unlawful. As political commentators from both parties disparaged the movement for racial justice, media outlets kept tallies of arrests from the protests.

Arresting more people and racking up charges, even if they’ve now been shown to be baseless, became a way for police to justify officers’ violent and deadly behavior.

Funny how they only want to examine the election results in Democratic districts.

It shows a complete lack of trust in the election system.

They assume that any normal person would vote for their own preferred candidate, and if people voted otherwise then it must be rigged.

Talk about deranged.

They have lost all track of the concept of free, fair and open elections in which the voters themselves are free to choose any candidate they favor. They also seem to lack any openness that others might have legitimate reasons to believe differently than themselves, even as they think it is OK for them to believe differently than others.

The peer pressure on the right is self-destructive. They tell one another that nobody should believe or trust the main stream news. They get all their information from non vetted alternative news sources which have not established a reputation for accuracy, and contain a high degree of slant.

Trump supporters must be angry that they were lied to, and they are so angry about it that they are lying to themselves. They were told that if the free and fair election was not overturned that we 'would not have a country anymore.' They believed the lie, and now that we still have a country they are angry that we do, and that it is a country which has told Donald Trump: "You're fired."

So now they lie to themselves further to avoid having to admit the previous lie.

Now they tell themselves that they are really the majority.

Even though they are not.

What it really amounts to is a bunch of misinformed extremists, who have been supported by some sympathizers from the middle, but now they no longer have as much support from the middle. So they really are not the majority, and they don't want to admit it.

So they lie to themselves.

If anyone tells them the truth, then it makes them angry. That causes them to lash out at whichever person reminded them that they are lying to themselves, because they don't want to admit it. They think issuing loud insulting responses will change the facts, but it won't.

And that makes them even angrier.

I would not be surprised to see more violence.

They thought the country was facing it's end days, but it wasn't, so now they are shamed and embarrassed. And that is the last thing a 'proud boy' wants to be.

OP link:

"The defendant is of course entitled to his political preferences. But given his prior acts of traveling across the country with weapons to 'stop the steal' and interfering with the peaceful transition of power on behalf of his idol," prosecutors wrote, "and his idol's continued inflammatory rhetoric about a stolen election, the defendant continues to pose a concrete and articulable threat to the community."
