no, its stupid to leave the Republican Party and support the liberals.....I was making a point about balancing the budget.....every state, every county, every municipality issues revenue bonds.......that is irrelevant to the conversation, liberal.......

Every state has to have a balanced budget. So how does that make Michigan better than Ohio?

I'm a liberal because I don't support a Democrat? Ok.

You need to learn your history. Being a die hard conservative was never a requirement to be a Republican until around 2000 when southern conservatives and right wing ideologues gained dominance in the party. Your attitude is also why the GOP is in crises and incapable of governing as is demonstrated by your Inability to make common cause with those who share some but not all of your values.

No I was saying I am a former Republican. Cawacko is still a Republican. I was a Republican from 1979 to 2004. Iraq was the straw that broke the camels back for me.

Now when I say I was a Republican I don't mean I voted Republican I mean I was active in Republican politics from 1981 to 1996.

I was young Republican in college and a member of the Mercer county Ohio Republican part. Back then Mercer county was about 80% Kennedy Democrats. I worked with Keith Fabers brother Jim in college. Keith was a Democrat but we convinced him to switch. Keith is now the Ohio Senates GOP majority leader. Mercer county is now around 80% Republican and it was the small group of political activist that I attended college with at Wright States Lake campus who were instrumental in that change.

I joined the Franklin county GOP when I moved to Columbus in the early 90's where I was not as active but I was a volunteer several time for Representative Debra Price election campaigns.

I am now what I was then, an unapologetic social liberal and center right on economics. As you may have noticed I'm pretty hostile towards the right wing of the GOP.

And that is why the GOP is in such a serious state of decline. The far right gained ascendency and has been purging those who are not pure ideologues.

The fallacy of your argument is that anyone who is not a far right and ideologically pure is demonized as a "liberal". Which is incredibly stupid from a political standpoint in that you fail to make common cause with those who share some of your views but not all and are willing to compromise on some things in order to make common cause on shared beliefs. Not running off persons like myself and Cawacko.

I loath social welfare state liberals who think the world owes them something almost as much as I detest socially conservative bigots. My views were once the the dominant view of the GOP that they were the party of lean, efficient and effective government. The "government is the problem" group were a minority in the 80s and 90s.

In this case PMP isn't an ideologue he just believes whatever the party's nominee believes. So it could be a conservative or liberal position it doesn't matter. It's Desh esque in "if my guy does it I support it, if they do it I don't" type position.

they are in such a serious state of decline that even when ten percent of their former members refuse to vote for their nominee he trails Hil-liar-y by less than one percentage point......sucks to be in a serious state of decline.......

I consider it a sliding scale.....anything that slithers down to your end of the scale is the liberal position....

LOL yeah I remember when we came up with lines like that cause it worked well on people who weren't well educated or to good at the critical thinking bit.

Using esoteric economic theory or social policy didn't work but telling the proles that liberal baby killers were going to send blacks to your neighborhood to take your jobs and marry your daughters and have religious cults brain was your kids into devil worship sure did work but what can I say? We were mischievous little assholes back then. :)
