MAGATs exhibit quite a few characteristics of a cult.

Unquestioned loyalty to a charismatic leader.
Us vs them mentality
Cult leaders are typically narcissistic sociopaths and pathological liars.
Cult leaders have authoritarian style leadership
Cult leaders view people as assets and objects
Many cult members participate in behaviors they would regard as reprehensible before joining the cult

Trump is an amoral, repugnant leader who will further divide this country. It's what he does. He pits groups against each other. It's not melodramatic to say that the republic may not survive 4 more years w/ him in office, at least as it's currently constructed.

I haven't voted for either major party since 2008. My conscience is clear. I won't make the kinds of compromises that are required to settle on either major candidate in most elections.

Not that I wouldn't vote for either party again. Kasich was the last candidate I liked on the R side, and Klobuchar was the last one on the D side. Of course, neither had a chance.

Every voter needs to set the bar higher. Voting has become a kind of eff you to all of the people we disagree with. We need better leadership. A Trump/Biden race is really a catastrophe for America.

As a grunt who served, he sure as hell ain't wrong. Some of the dumbest fuckers I've ever seen in my life made officer because they brownnosed or knew the right people. The higher up the ladder the dumber they got.

Biden is no threat to the Republic. Trump is. That is a huge difference. Trump is a catastrophe. Biden is just a normal president doing the job.

That is all true. But we're in a very weird place right now as a nation - sometimes it feels like we're on the edge of a cliff.

The level of hate the right has for Biden is kind of inexplicable to me - but it's there. The reality is that a Biden victory will be nearly as divisive for the nation as a Trump victory. Millions simply will not accept it.

Some would say that would be true of any Dem, but I'm not so sure. We need a new vision, on both sides. We need energy. We need leaders who can be transformational.

Probably sounds like asking a lot. But this is still a great nation, and we deserve a great leader. If we end up with Biden/Trump a year from now, I have a lot of fear for what might happen after election day, no matter what the outcome.

Democrats have built their brand on identity politics and you have the nerve to claim trump pits groups against one another? The hatred you people for trump is unprecedented in it's intensity. It's not your hatred that for trump that I have a problem with it's the pretending that you're doing it for the "republic". BTW if you have to tell me it's not melodramatic that's precisely how we know it's melodramatic.

That's fine your conscience may be clear but it's grossly misguided and your actions are destructive. The overwhelming reality is that either a Democrat or a Republican will win the election. Period. If that's true and if you really believed Trump was a threat to the republic then you owed it to the Republic to vote for the only other party with a realistic chance of winning. Voting your "conscience" just makes you selfish.

A trump Biden race will be bad but I live in the world of what is not what I wish it were. AGAIN whenever there has been an alternative candidate to trump that doesn't hate me as a conservative I vote them. Since only a D or an R is likely to win, if the Ds never put up candidate who doesn't hate me as a conservative then I have no choice no matter how bad the alternative is. Now you can keep repeating how bad and evil trump is but it's not a compelling argument and hasn't been for 7 years now.
