Trump slaps BBC with eye-watering $10B suit for alleged defamatory editing of Jan. 6 speech

A lot is punitive damage. Plus Trump spent hundreds of millions to try to become President and they were trying to put their liberal thumb on the scale.
He still has t prove damages. That's gonna require actual evidence.

Look, kid. Just stop. You're embarrassing yourself.

None of that applied when alex jones was ordered to pay $1.5 B.

Alex Jones did HAVE to provide all his financial information during the lawsuit but when he refused, the courts ruled in favor of the other side as a penalty.

So you are correct, Trump can refuse to provide the information and he will automatically lose his case.

We will see. I bet the BBC settles. Better to lose 10-15 million than risk getting a billion dollar judgement against you. What the BBC did was egregious. Trump could very well win if the case makes it to court.
Got that right. They take 3 phrases in a lengthy speech and splice them together as if it was one sentence!!! You can make anyone say anything that way. No way you can call that free speech.

Judges are not allowed to do that. Jones had a 7A right to a jury trial but the judge said "IMO you are being uncooperative so i am cancelling your jury trial right and finding you liable."!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Judges can't do that.

They may, but the BBC, unlike some US broadcaster, with the possible exception of PBS, is owned by the British government. So, depending on how big a bunch of Leftist wankers the management there is...

If the BBC had edited one of the vegetable’s speeches, the left would be screaming for the BBC’s scalp.
