Trump shares violent image of Biden tied-up in the back of a pickup truck

Of coursehe shared the image. His supporters love that kind of stuff, just like they love all of his childish name calling. For some reason, the current GOP seems to have no standards for their top leader.

She served in the Crimean War and is revered for setting standards for nursing care and practitioners. There's also Clara Barton, who founded the American Red Cross. She served in the Civil War.

Clara Barton is who I was thinking about re Florence Nightingale. I confused both their contributions and their wars.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Florence_Nightingale
Florence Nightingale OM RRC DStJ (/ˈnaɪtɪŋɡeɪl/; 12 May 1820 – 13 August 1910) was an English social reformer, statistician and the founder of modern nursing. Nightingale came to prominence while serving as a manager and trainer of nurses during the Crimean War, in which she organised care for wounded soldiers at Constantinople.[4] She significantly reduced death rates by improving hygiene and living standards. Nightingale gave nursing a favourable reputation and became an icon of Victorian culture, especially in the persona of "The Lady with the Lamp" making rounds of wounded soldiers at night.[5][6]

That's so counterintuitive to me.
Like writing f*ck as if it were different by writing it that way.

Or the N-word. I wouldn't ever call somebody a nigger
unless I was being deliberately disrespectful to one individual person in private where it wouldn't offend others,

but making reference to the word "nigger" by calling it the "n-word" always seemed hypersensitive to me.
That's the kind of squeamishness that's always bothered me. WOKE, I guess.

Or using words like gosh or darn or heck.
Why do people do that?

Maybe it's a city person thing, but we don't tend to ever do that.

If "WOKE" means being cognizant of others' feelings regarding charged words or controversial issues, I'm WOKE as hell then, or at least try to be. Words carefully chosen to wound or to make a point are more powerful than running around spraying f-bombs and n-words in every other sentence. Or to look at it another way, if my mom had ever said the word "shit" it would have been far more shocking than me using several times a day. lol

It's a common statement/question by atheists who believe "when you're dead, you're dead". They don't seem to understand that an eternal existence awaits. Mortal life can be seen as being in school; K-12. Look at High Schoolers who think what happens there is so important that they would kill each other for it. Consider students who think it's cruel they are forced to go to school and have to learn things. Also consider that students can't learn if they are simply handed the answers. It's important that they learn for themselves. In that respect, I see life as being an experience to learn. Some have the misfortune of seeing their mortal lives cut short such as the 230,000 people who died in the 2004 Tsunami or the 40-50M who died in WWII. Regardless of age or experience, their souls still become one with God upon mortal death, IMO. Ergo, their deaths are not a reflection of God's love.

No one really knows if an "eternal existence awaits." I don't. You don't. No one knows, but many of us hope that it is so. I'm fairly sure that if the concept of reincarnation is real, and we learn with each successive life time, by now we'd have evolved past war, greed, torture, rape, assault, and political forums, eh? ;)

I don't know if there is a God like the Bible one, or like other religious faiths believe in. I don't know if we have a spark or soul that lives on after our meat space body is dust. All I know is that what matters is what we do right now in this life time. Did you see the rabbi teaching I posted yesterday? That's how I see things.

They do not. To them, it's a good day when the #TangerineToddler doesn't turn his sights on them and call them stupid names or otherwise mock them and/or their family members.

She cared for all the wounded w/o picking sides. It's what nurses do.

Yes, it makes sense that she tended to wounded prisoners of the opposing army, but surely she was employed either in a Union field hospital, or a Confederate one? Just wondering about it

You once seriously shocked me--I'm not kidding--by mentioning your being reprimanded for using the word "crap."

The Gestapo and I never reprimanded our kids for saying "motherfucker."
We were more likely to say, "Where the fuck did you learn that?" while laughing.
They turned out OK, largely because we were much more likely to reprimand bad grammar than colorful profanity.

I honestly find it hard to believe that it's entirely about being cognizant of others' feelings.
It may be to an extent, but in that case, one shouldn't spend a lot of time in Boston.
You can't make general statements about everybody,
but in general, Bostonians don't walk on eggs for anybody.

You know how your bestie TOP claims to hate using certain words that reference special needs people?
"Fuckin' retahd" is the Boston word for "person" in many situations.
Ask the idiot Libhater. I'm sure he could confirm it, and like I said, he's an idiot.
I'm fairly confident that he's been called a fuckin' retahd for his whole life.

President Obama thought it hilarious that David Ortiz said
"This is our fucking city!" in a ballpark loaded with kids at a day game.
Young moms were on their feet screaming their approval.

It's a big country, so "when in Rome" I guess.
Maybe I was just born to be a Masshole.
It certainly comes naturally; I'll admit that.

The terrorists attacking the Capitol at the behest of Traitor Trump?

thanks for your input, Oh Purveyor of Lies......

I don't know, really. Probably mostly she care for Union men behind the battle lines, as she wouldn't have been out in the battlefield.

"Masshole" -- :rofl2:  That's what my Vermont kids call you too. lol

We were taught that our use of language, both grammatical and colorful, told people who we are. Those who constantly used profanity were seen as low class. Mr. Owl's family had the same upbringing; he seldom says a swear unless extremely provoked. (Unlike myself.)

As for Toxic and her hate for the Retard Word, she has thanked posts where one of her butt buddies has called someone she hates by that sobriquet. She has also thanked posts where her enemies have been called cunts, bitches, n-words, mongrels, thugs, etc. Her outrage about language is quite selective.

I thought it was funny when Biden whispered loudly to Obama at the signing of the ACA "This is a big fucking deal!" He's right!

I am more than happy to await the perfect peace
that comes with cessation of existence.

The last thing I need or want
is to be burdened with continuing consciousness after my physical life.

Eternity is forever. Who could handle that?

I've actually gotten notedly more conservative with my demeanor to befit my age.
I, the gestapo, and offspring #1 all have.

The cop, not so much, but she hasn't reached fifty yet.
That's around the time it kicks in, I think.
If the Lieutenant ever makes Captain, she may have to.
Captains are on TV a lot.

The internet doesn't count.
Any medium that one designates as one's venting medium isn't the place to stop swearing, is it?

I find the concept of repeating lives (reincarnation of a sort) romantic and interesting. I also like the idea of an eternity spent with those you love in a pleasant place not filled with Christians, Moonies, and other preachy types. :rofl2: I also find it personally abhorrent. It's been a wonderful wild ride but when the music stops, it's time to get off, eh?
