Trump runs away with double-digit lead over Biden, new general election poll finds

If you don't have enough information to have identified one or two individuals you align the most closely with then you are far too uninformed to criticize anyone elses choice. You are also a coward. Since you know that no one you vote for will ever hold office, clearly the only criteria for you is whether or not they are as fucking insane as you are. But apparently, you need to wait for the Libertarians before you can even inform yourself. I have never made an impulse vote in my life. I consider multiple factors in determining who I vote for and who I most closely align with. They are probably never going to be the same. This one is the easiest decision of my life. Democracy is on the ballot, I'm voting for Democracy. You? Who the fuck knows what you want other than your love of guns and your hatred of your country.

Meanwhile in the reality that is NOT polls,

Democrats keep winning special elections in battleground states

Elections are the answer to Trumpism, which aims to undermine the Constitution that protects our freedoms.

Yesterday, we saw the antidote at work once again, and in battleground states, in special elections for state House seats in New Hampshire and Pennsylvania. Both victories were consistent with a 2023 national trend, with abortion-rights Democrats overperforming in the wake of the 2022 Supreme Court decision overturning Roe v. Wade, the 1973 decision that legalized abortion nationally.

In New Hampshire, Democrat Hal Rafter flipped a GOP seat in the southern part of the state. Rafter won 56 percent to 44 percent in a district that Trump won by less than a point in 2020, 49.1 to 48.7 percent. Though it’s a small district, that’s a 12 percent turnaround....

...Signs abound that voters’ reaction to the loss of those rights could carry into 2024.

In Pennsylvania, the victory of candidate Lindsay Powell was also consistent with a larger 2023 trend of Democratic overperformance....

...Brent Peabody of the Center for a New American Security has tracked Democrats’ overperformance in more than 20 state elections in 2023. The party’s candidates have outpaced Biden’s 2020 performance by substantial margins.

Noting the same trend, ABC News reported that Democrats had “outperformed the partisan lean” by an average of 10 percent in an analysis of 23 special elections in 2023. ..

But, but , but TRUMP!!!!!!

Thanks for admitting you like social safety net programs

Hell no I don't like it, but I've been forced to pay into it for a half century, I'm damn sure going to try to get as much back as I can. And BTW, one of the reasons I made a 25 year career out of the military was free health care for life. Now I find out that I have to pay medicare premiums like everyone else, all while the jackass-in-chief still wants to forgive everyone's collage loans, and not to mention all the shit the tsunami of illegal aliens are going to steal. Thanks!

Then how would you feel if say the Republicans get their way and they gut Medicare and SS? Would you be happy or pissed off?

1. Government programs never go away. And republicans don't want to "gut Medicare and SS".

2. Nobody has the votes.

3. It would be a great thing if a) it was grandfathered (for ME!), b) if it tapered off gradually over decades and c) they started limiting who can even collect it.
