What he wants seems to be the glorification in "being the man", ownership of the power more than the use of it other than settling some personal scores. If he wins I'll be with those resigned to watching the show run its course.

Human nature is for people with unbridled power to eventually go too far. Caligula is a great example. :)

Mussolini is another. Hitler and his top generals took took their own lives in order to dodge similar fates.

Determined not to give his enemies the satisfaction of killing him or defiling his body, Hitler committed suicide on April 30 and had his corpse subsequently burned. Mussolini’s body, meanwhile, was buried in an unmarked grave in a Milan cemetery.
