Trump has a long history of refusing to condemn the behavior of overt racists while also denying that he knows their true views, such as when he said in 2016 he did not know former Klan leader David Duke's views well enough to justify disavowing his support.
 
Paraphrasing the conversation, the source said Fuentes told the president he preferred him to be "authentic," and that Trump seemed scripted and unlike himself during his recent 2024 campaign announcement speech.
Trump responded, “You like it better when I just speak off the cuff," the source said. Fuentes replied that he did, calling Trump an "amazing" president when he was unrestrained. "There was a lot of fawning back and forth," the source added.
Fuentes told Trump that he represented a side of Trump's base that was disappointed with his newly cautious approach, especially with what some far-right activists view as a lack of support for those charged in the Jan. 6 Capitol attack.

Trump didn't disagree with Fuentes, but said he has advisers who want him to read off teleprompters and be more "presidential." Notably, Trump referred to himself as a politician, which he has been loathe to do in the past.
Fuentes also told Trump that he would crush potential 2024 Republican rivals in a primary, including Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis. Trump asked for Fuentes' opinion on other candidates as well.

I think he is a problem for the Republicans that is going to have to be dealt with. He’s going to be an anchor for some time.

I moved on from Trump when he left office, the rest of the nation will have followed me by Nov 24....he will be a non factor.

I hope you are correct that he won’t get the nomination. (If he does, you will support him.) I think he’s likely to leave the Republican Party with a good 10-15% the the Republican base.

His departure will result in a lurch left for the Republicans then the Democrats and America.

Patriot my ass! Remember what he said during the 2016 debates? "Chy-nah" was "eating our lunch", yet he had no problem using Chinese steel to build his hotels. When called out he sneered, "so pass a law so I can't do that!"

He said not paying his fair share of business taxes doesn't make him unpatriotic, it "makes me smart".

Then there's his record of stiffing workers, hiring foreigners instead of Americans...and stiffing them!

He pulled a classic chicken hawk move to get out of serving in Vietnam.

I could go on, but you get the point (or will deny it).

Civilization is in retrograde, there is a lot of pain ahead...I dont have a lot of time to talk about Trump some more. We have done so much of that over the last 7 years, its time to do something else.

Nice advice, but won't happen. #TRE45ON KNOWS his base contains a large percentage of racists and if he wants to keep them, he has to appear to be one of them. His appeal to hater filth like TDAK, volsrock, Life is Golden, TOP, Stone, etc. is due to his pandering to the worst of the worst.

No statement like that from Trump about Kanye West and Nick Fuentes.

Instead, Trump invites them to dinner at his home.
