The jury selection started yesterday. As of the end of the day today, the reports are they have selected 7 jurors.

Trump's CFO has already plead guilty and will be a witness in the trial.
The judge is telling prospective jurors that Trump himself may be a witness in the trial.

Multiple potential jurors have been excused because they "hate Trump" and can't be impartial.

I particularly like this comment from twitter:
A potential juror: “Mr. Trump has no morals. He thinks only of himself. I think he is a criminal. I think he has done irreparable damage to this country. And thats exactly why i think i can be impartial in this case.

NO word on whether that juror was seated or not. The current prediction is the jury will be seated by Friday with opening statements next Monday. The judge is telling jurors the trial could take 5-6 weeks.

He'll pay a fine and that'll be it. The real trouble he's in is in Georgia. That is if we hold on to democracy after this November.

NEW YORK (Reuters) - A prosecutor in the tax fraud trial of Donald Trump's company told prospective jurors on Tuesday the government's star witness - a longtime Trump Organization executive - may be "reluctant" to answer questions, while some jury candidates were dismissed after expressing contempt for the former U.S. president.

...

Weisselberg in August pleaded guilty to charges including grand larceny and tax fraud while admitting to concealing $1.76 million in income. Weisselberg agreed to testify against the company at trial as part of his plea agreement.

Trump, who is considering another run for the presidency in 2024, has not been charged in the case, which he has called politically motivated.

Prosecutors and defense lawyers on Tuesday made progress toward picking a 12-member jury, with seven people selected by early afternoon. The two sides questioned prospective jurors about topics ranging from their opinions about Trump to their views on taxation.

Hard time finding jurors that don't dislike Trump.

Jury selection in the New York criminal tax-fraud trial of Donald Trump's real-estate and golf-resort empire is already proving to be an uphill battle with potential jurors on Tuesday openly sharing their disdain for the former Republican president.

About 11 of the 18 prospective jurors questioned Tuesday by lawyers in the high-profile trial playing out in New York Supreme Court in lower Manhattan said they have strong feelings against Trump.

An interesting sidenote on this is what CREW filed.

It is standard practice for the government to suspend contractors under indictment, which the Trump Organization currently is. Under federal law and regulations, the government may only award contracts to “responsible” contractors that have “a satisfactory record of integrity and business ethics.” Integrity and business ethics are sorely lacking from the Trump Organization.

If Trump Organization is unable to contract with the Federal government because it is under indictment then he won't be able to rent out rooms to SS agents.

The first 12 for the jury have been seated. They just need to find the 6 alternates now.

Trump Org. trial jury: 8 men, 4 women, and a few opinions
NEW YORK (AP) — It’s taken just three days to seat a jury of 12 people in the tax fraud trial of Donald Trump’s company — surprising even some people involved in the case who thought it would take at least a week to find an impartial panel in heavily Democratic New York City.

Five of the jurors were sworn in Thursday, joining seven who were picked Tuesday. Six alternates still need to be seated. That process is beginning anew Thursday and Friday with a second pool of potential jurors, but lawyers say they’re on track for opening statements on Monday

Opening statements in criminal case against Trump's company set for Monday

NEW YORK, Oct 31 (Reuters) - Opening statements are set for Monday in the criminal case accusing former President Donald Trump's real estate company of a 15-year tax fraud.

The case is among the mounting legal troubles facing the 76-year-old Trump, a Republican, as he considers another bid for the presidency after losing in 2020.

The Trump Organization is accused of defrauding tax authorities between at least 2005 and 2021 by providing "off the books" benefits to company executives and paying bonuses as non-employee compensation.

Trump is an assassin. Tax fraud is the least of the asshole's worries.
1.5 billion Muslims want him dead.

Trump trial is now adjourned until Monday next week after the first witness, Trump employee, Jeffrey McConney, tests positive for Covid.

Jurors were shown documents that Trump signed to pay for Weisselberg's apartment. McConney is still being paid $450,000 per year by The Trump Organization even though he is doing no work for them.

Trump and family tossed Wesselberg under the bus. They are saying he did it on his own. Donnie and the donettes did not know what was going on. It is an organization run by few people, with few permanent employees, yet they were shocked by what their CFO was doing.
