Trump lays bare the many dark secrets of conservatism and then retreats to PC bs

Throughout his campaign he has demonstrated what many have always known, that the core of conservatism is hatred, racism and misogyny. Now he has let slip the truth behind their "pro life" cause, i.e., that it must criminally punish women.

Many pro lifers have rushed to object, arguing that Trump is a fraud that does not understand the pro life cause. They reassure us that they will only seek criminal punishment for the doctors, never for women.

I have often wondered why wouldn't they punish women? If abortion is murder then shouldn't the person that hired the doctor/hitman be punished too?

Regardless, if you are reassured then you should look at how pro-lifers in other countries have criminalized miscarriages and are jailing women.

We would certainly have to do the same to realize the goals of "pro lifers.". In the black markets that will emerge from only punishing doctors, abortifacients will become a more attractive option. An abortifacient will be difficult to trace to its source and suppliers could easily service many more customers than a back alley doctor could.

The response will be what they have done in those other nations, the jailing of women having suspicious miscarriages. Some will surely be "guilty" but not all.

Trump understands the "pro-life" cause just fine, his only fault is a lack of practice in the deceptive "pro-life" rhetoric. "Pro-lifers" know that punishment for women is not appealing to voters and 2012 was another lesson for them in how critical it is for them to obscure their ultimate goals. The party of dog whistle politics can't afford to lose white women in large numbers.

"Speaking his mind unapologetically" (BTW, that's just code for being an unabashed bigoted asshole) is frequently cited as appealing to many of his supporters. But in this instance, Trump panders to the far right with something I don't think he really believes. Then when he is called on it he has quickly and obediently retreated to the PC edited and obscured version of "pro-life" rhetoric. On the issue of abortion, Trump is not speaking his mind. He is an impostor playing an impostor.

This is the reality of Trump, his first instinct is to "punish the woman".

He might later retract the statement or claim he was tricked, but I saw the video... he was not tricked. He left the interview feeling great about himself, but saw his advisors huddled in a corner trying to figure out how to undo what he had just done. They explained to Trump what he did wrong and then fashioned a statement that would be more acceptable to the Wisconsin and New York electorate.

Why shouldn't murderers be punished for willingly taking a life?

Ugh no. Why is there a giant anti-Trump movement in the conservative/republican party if he's defining conservatism?

Actually he isn't very conservative at all. He's a moderate populist.

OP fail.

I see the War on Women bus is getting revved up.

Funny thing is, the left wants to act like they only do this stuff to "crazy Trump." Yeah right, they did the EXACT same shit to Romney and McCain, who were 2 moderates that went the PC route.

Romney did and said nothing the likes of trump, but was still branded a women hater, a racist, a bigot, rich evil whitey.

See it doesn't matter what you say, if you have an R by your name you are their enemy. This is why it doesn't matter what Trump or anyone says, they are automattically getting these lables anyway. So Trump might as well say whatever he wants, it makes no difference.

And since the liberals control the media, anything against liberalism will be made to sound ludacris and crazy.

The whole premise of your first paragraph is wrong. Trump has nothing to do with conservatism which is why we've seen so many conservatives denounce him and pro-life groups spoke out against his comment yesterday.

I understand what you are saying, and I agree somewhat, but maybe then you can explain to me why he is the frontrunner for the Conservative Party nomination?

I think there is a group of the Republican party that is based on hatred, racism and misogyny.

This is why they hate what they call "political correctness", they don't like that they are discriminated against for saying hateful, racist or misogynistic things.

Akin, Mourdoch and "legitimate rape" did it to Romney. I don't recall McCain taking much fire on abortion.

How did Bill Clinton win the nomination of the liberal party as a "new democrat"? You're playing word games Jarod. Not every Republican is conservative.

Are the Bernie Bro's exposing the true sexism of progressives?

From my reading of Trump the 2 issues he could care less about are abortion or gay marraige. Like he would literally use them as bargaining chips to get other stuff done.

Sorry, but he does. His appeal to conservatives is based on a shared bigotry and hate. His poll numbers went up with every hateful statement he made.

Those who denounce him are just the establishment types that understand that they have to package their hate in PC terms and make better use of the dog whistle to appeal to the bigoted grassroots of the party. They also know they can't afford to scare away mostly white, conservative women with a repeat of 2012's mistakes.
