Except both sides of the Charlottesville riots are seen as losers not political mainstream. Extremists can be dangerous if 98% if the rest of the country doesn't think they are buttholes
The point is Americans live pretty good lives and they don't want to leave the comfort of that for the hardship of War. I don't think there's anything people feel that strongly about.
A few riots by nutjobs doesn't equate to a civil war.

I grew up middle & upper middle class & was diagnosed with PTSD as a teen.
Due to a series of events of violence.

Grew up in Putnam Lake, NY.
Solidly middle class & above area.
Having a 83K a year household income above the 59K average household income of the USA.
There was a lot of anger, despair, sadness & just plain disfunction growing up there.
My first friend ever has PTSD from serving in Afghanistan.
My second friend got into drugs & blew off his head with a shot gun.
My 3rd friend was in & out of jail for fist fights.
He is the dude who randomly attacked my Black Jamaican friend.
My 4th friend robbed me at gun point, attempted suicide in front of me & with a group attacked me & took off my clothes had to walk home like that.

Went to jail for stabbing a cabbie & them got out & died of a drug OD.
My 4th friend turned on me & broke my nose.
He bullied me for years.
He is now in jail for holding up over 12 cabbies by knife point.
My 5rh friend ended up homeless& with PTSD as A VETERAN.
My 6th friend us successful in MMA. .
My 7th friend runs a successful deli.
My 8th friend the Black Jamaican one I spoke of earlier.
Was attacked by skaters who hurled rocks, slurs & shot fireworks at him too.

Went to jail for stabbing another Black dude & got out & was accused of rape by a White girl went back to jail.
My 9th friends mother died & his parents lost the house & ended up living in a trailer in Wingdale.
My 10th friend has Bi Polar attempted suicide & lost his dad in his teens.
My 11th friend got cancer in his teens.
