if were being honest its still there. I mean we do need to reach out to cruz republicans to get their vote. They still make up like 30% of the party. Conservatism as a whole though is a junior partner now. It really is the nationalist GOP vs the globalist dems.

Americans are taxed beyond reason. The amount most pay in taxes is obscene.

every time there has been a recession though governments have ramped up govt spending to get out of it. Look at Tojo's japan, Hitlers germany and the US in between ww1 and ww2. The only difference is that the US spent on economic stuff and the other 2 on military.

In some ways fiscal conservatism did lead to the 19 Trillion debt. The way they tried to impose it, by cutting tax revenue without cutting spending.

Borrow and Spend is what fiscal conservatism led to.

a failed government idea, but one they were practically forced in to by assuming ownership of an economy that they ruined in the first place. the only thing that increased government spending during a recession does is prolong the agonizing death of the economy. it's why we end up with the economic cycle of recession, boom, recession, boom, recession, boom. nobody wants to face the hardships that an actual depression would give us though, so we're forced to endure the feds blowing air in to a leaky balloon.
