Trump-Epstein connection casts shadow over election campaign Jeffrey Epstein's undisclosed revelation involving Trump triggers renewed scrutiny amidst

Hello Damo,

The conviction is not being overturned. The conviction is for things DJT did before being elected. He illegally influenced the election by making payments in excess of the allowed amount to benefit his campaign. Later, the records of the payments were falsified under his direction. None of that was an official act while in office.
The records that were central to this case were made after he was in office, and no that would not be "an official act". It wasn't even one he did, he did not create the records. I do not agree with your first line. I think it will be overturned, not because of this ruling though but instead due to the "pick your crime" bingo they played. The underlying crime he committed that turned a misdemeanor into a felony was undefined and unassigned allowing juries to vote to convict if they "felt like" he committed any of a bingo card of crimes for which Trump was never charged anywhere at all. That's what I think will cause this nonsense to be overturned. I think the judge is delaying to rule on "official act" stuff because he thinks he can delay the sentencing in order to ensure that votes will be cast while Trump is appealing sentencing. It is lawfare at its best. Drag your feet to time rulings to better advantage the side you want to win.

Funny how this is a thread about DJT being a pedophile rapist and it somehow got derailed into being about something else. How does that happen?
More folks seem to want to talk about the SCOTUS ruling than Epstein. I won't be voting for Trump so I personally don't give a whip about it.

You're entitled to believe that. The crimes were valid. It was a direct application of the law. The jury instructions were correct. DJT should be given no leniency because he is a candidate. He has been an atrocious defendant. He has insulted the judge and the court officials. He has lied and shown to have lied by a unanimous jury conviction believing the evidence showing the opposite of the story presented by DJT's lawyers at his direction. He had to be gagged to prevent him from illegally influencing the trial.

This convict has every motivation to gain the power of office which will give him the power to escape justice in numerous other indictments he faces. He should be severely sentenced.

Now, there is credible information charging DJT with child rape and abuse right alongside Jeffery Epstein. The allegations have not been verified but they include allegations against Epstein which match similar allegations which have been verified. Maga cultists who care about pedophilia will have to decide if they think pedophilia is OK of DJT did it, because that is exactly what this says happened.

Which, again, I gave an example of rulings in the past where folks under executive authority have had this same immunity, you just want to ignore it. I get that you really desperately want to believe that this is all "new", but it isn't. It's the same thing that keeps a DA who has tried and convicted someone falsely, even ones that have kept exculpatory evidence from the defense, from facing charges. You don't get to assign motive to their actions.

Personally I do not like those particular rulings, but they are not "new".
This has nothing to do with hiding exculpatory evidence by the prosecution. NOTHING.

Interviews with people in the Executive Branch cannot be used as evidence. People who were actual witnesses or corroborated other accounts. You’re telling me that’s not new?

Consideration of motive tossed out the window when it comes to the attempt to prevent the proper transfer of power is not new?

The “presumptive immunity” in the outer layers of a President’s activities is not new? They defined neither in the decision.

Yeah, it’s new all right. Disturbingly so.

Who gives a shit about Epstein? Number one, he’s dead. Number two, we all know Trump is a sexual predator anyway, so the association with Epstein adds nothing.

Apparently nobody. As I noted, folks seem to want to talk about the SCOTUS ruling, mostly gaslighting about how "scary" it is to rule that lower courts are going to have to figure out what official acts of the president are and how "new" it is for an executive to have immunity for actions taken while doing their job.

What they ruled is a qualified immunity, like pretty much everyone in the executive branch has. If you are acting officially (within the powers of your position), you have immunity, if you are crossing the line you do not... then tossed it back to the lower courts to work on what is "official" or not.. courts have been ruling like this for ages and ages. While I sometimes dislike their rulings, especially when it protects folks like DAs who hide exculpatory evidence from Defense attorneys (breaking the law)... using the "you cannot use official acts as evidence" line... I don't like that personally, but it's just reality and certainly not new.

They want you to be afraid, they think it will make you vote for someone with obvious mental decline who has some occasional lucid moments.

The far left Democratic Socialist loons are freaking out.

I predicted it would be a limited immunity ruling and it was but there was no need for this to be adjudicated at the Supreme Court.

Presidents have had limited immunity for many years.

Trump has clear mental problems. The convoluted mishmash of words he uses is embarrassing for a president to use. Trump still does not know how the American government works or why it was designed that way. He has no interest in the 3 equal branches. Trump wants all the power and has no problem using force to obtain it. I do not want a stupid president who has no values restraining him. That is Trump. That is much of the threat he represents.

Um...Nordy, did you watch the debate?

Your Democrats are very near to dumping the turnip in the White House.

Did you? Trump was terrible. He did not answer the questions and essentially gave a rally speech. I do not want either of them. You rightys are pushing a felon who has no respect for the American experiment. He will end it all and not care.
Biden was bad and I want him replaced. I have never been a Biden fan. Trump sucked and he pleased you. The Repubs are dumping a corrupt felon on the people.
If the "turnip" wins, America survives.

Biden: 'I screwed up' on the debate stage

In a radio interview, President Joe Biden admitted that he screwed up during his debate with Donald Trump as another democrat calls for him to resign...

Trump is trying to separate himself from Project 2025. He has been a big pusher on right-wing sites, but if the people knew what it says, he would lose votes. Trump will lie. He knows whatever he says will not cost him voters. However, Trump is not expanding his base.
Trump is corrupt and a felon. Some Americans care about that. If they knew how terrible his plans for the country are, he may lose a few more. I doubt the project will gain votes.

Guess what? Those “lower court” rulings they want to leave things to? They’re going to end up right back with SCOTUS. Every fucking one of them.

Just like this ruling that they tossed back to the lower courts months ago, when they could have handled it then.

I AM afraid, but not for just any President wielding this new found power. Biden, lucid or not, won’t abuse it. Trump tried and will more so, given the chance.

I won’t vote for either, but I’m from Idaho, so my vote goes for naught.
