This is crazy! I keep asking why a candidate trying to prevent disclosure of a matter that has no bearing on the position sought would be a campaign violation and your answer is basically because the candidate is a candidate so if they try to prevent disclosure of anything it's related to campaign and automatically a campaign violation.
Ypu guys are so stupid this is pointless. You can't even come up with a reason why it would matter. You just keep repeating the same thing
It's not that difficult. If you were Trump's campaign manager and heard two weeks before the election a porn star might accuse him of sex would you be happy? Would you be willing to pay her off to prevent her accusations because it might change the outcome of the election? If the money was spent to affect the outcome of an election it might be a campaign finance violation according to some and should have been disclosed. I don't think it is clear if it does violate the regulations, but that is the reasonably simple explanation. The members of the FEC cannot even agree on the interpretation of the rules.
It is not an issue of whether it has a bearing on the position sought but a bearing on election spending that could affect the outcome.
