Indeed.....just like the "democrats" were on the losing side of being PRO SLAVERY...….some generals engaged in a losing battle to history, like Erwin Rommel.

Actually Robert E. Lee was somewhat "anti-slavery". But......just like today it appears that the NY TIMES had their own spin in attempting to paint Lee as a "pro slave ideologue"....when in reality there exists a hand written letter from Lee to his wife declaring "......in this enlightened age, there are few I believe, but what will acknowledge, that slavery as an institution is a moral and political evil in any country."

But....ask him to name one historical republican that OWNED A SLAVE and endorsed the institution of slavery......just one example. ;) There are many democrats that did not own slaves.....but that does not preclude the fact from existing that 100% of all slave owners were DEMOCRATS.

I'm a Sherman disciple.
I think Lee should have hanged for the good of the future of the country,let people see treason is serious business.
All Confederate Leaders land confiscated and resettled.

Again......name one Republican that endorsed the institution of slavery. 100% of all slave owners were democrats....even the slave owners in the northern states like Maryland...etc.,

Me thinks you want to erase LEE from history actual because of the truth found in history......Democrats have historically supported...slavery, KKK, Jim Crow, Anti-civil right legislations, and of course they opposed all legislation that granted women and minorities the right to vote and own property.
