It wasn’t Hillary, but, yes, she was part of the problem. There are 100 Senators and 435 Representatives. It took a majority. Also, note how Congress has punted to the WH on War Powers over the years….and We, the People let them do it.
The President has a great deal of power of how or whether a war is fought. Congress can authorize him to fight the war, but he does not even have to do that. So Congress authorizes to President to possibly fight a war, and then some Presidents run with that.
The problem is that wars are surprisingly easy to get into. If the President is gearing up the war bandwagon, it is almost impossible to stop him. Can anyone name a time that Congress either failed to authorize possible military action, or withdrew authorization?
It’s not just the people who voted for Trump (or GW) who are the problem but the candidates put forth by the Democrats. For one, I refuse to vote for the lesser of two evils because we only end up with evil as we’ve seen over the years.
All choices have evil in them. That is the world we live in. I can understand if you say the two choices you have been given have an unacceptable amount of evil, and you want to find a third choice. But, that third choice will also have some evil in it. So, whatever you do, you will be choosing the lesser evil, and will be choosing some amount of evil.
Biden is one of the most right wing leaders among the fully developed countries. Obviously, Hungary and Poland have further right wing leaders, but they are not fully developed yet(their democratic institutions are still forming, or unraveling depending on how you look at it). Republicans would be seen as well outside the mainstream in most developed countries. So Democrats have become this catch all party of the entire mainstream, which means that anyone would disagree with one wing or another of the Democratic Party. That being said, I disagreed with most of Reagan's policies, but he would be far better than Hitler or Stalin. I would vote for Reagan in a heartbeat over Hitler or Stalin. And I will vote for any Democrat over a Republican right now.
We get the government we deserve. It’s a lot easier to blame one President or one Party than to accept the fact We, the People have allowed this to happen through a multiplex of reasons such as divisiveness, poor education and supporting authoritarian measures to force people into submission of the party in power.
There is some sort of transition of technology, economics, and society happening. As with any transition that you are in, especially at the beginning, it is impossible to know exactly what it is. It is causing extreme backlashes, extreme wealth, addiction, despair, hope, prosperity, sudden poverty, reductions in poverty, and huge numbers of contradictions. If we can survive the transition, I believe things will be better. If not... Well then we get trump's future.
