Trump basically a laughing stock behind closed doors among Republicans

More Republicans have to step up to the plate like Corker. I have little doubt that what he said is what many - if not most - of them are thinking.

This is a bad situation right now. An "emperor has no clothes" scenario, but the stakes are much higher than public embarrassment. We have a leader who is simply not mentally fit for the job, or even close.
