A sexual-assault victim who is critical of Hillary Clinton and who appeared alongside Donald Trump before Sunday night's debate was paid $2,500 by a political action committee founded by Trump ally Roger Stone.

The Arkansas woman, Kathy $helton, was sexually assaulted at age 12 and was the victim in a 1975 case in which Clinton was appointed to represent her then-41-year-old attacker, Thomas Alfred Taylor. $helton has accused Clinton of crossing ethical bounds in the case, and over the past few months, $helton has given TV and video interviews slamming Clinton.

$helton's case has been extensively cited in conservative media as evidence that Clinton, the Democratic nominee for president, does not have the best interests of women at heart.

The May payment to $helton by the Committee to Restore America's Greatness PAC, founded by Stone, was described as "contract labor" in campaign finance reports filed with the Federal Election Commission. Asked by The Associated Press about the reason for the payment, Stone said in an email that $helton "was extensively interviewed on video about her experience with Hillary Clinton and was paid for her time."

$helton did not respond to a written request for comment left at her home in recent weeks by an AP reporter.

Stone has arranged to pay other women critical of the Clintons.

Earlier this year, Stone sought to raise money to pay off the mortgage of Kathleen Willey, who accused Bill Clinton of making unwanted sexual advances toward her during her time as a volunteer in his White House in the 1990s. Stone claimed in an online video interview that Trump had personally contributed to the fund.

Claim: Khizr Kahn's law firm received a $375,000 wire transfer from the Clinton Foundation after he spoke at the Democratic National Convention.

FALSE

One of those attempts hinged on an image (see below) purporting to show a Wells Fargo bank statement in the name of Khan's law firm which lists a $375,000 wire transfer from The Clinton Foundation, Bill Clinton's nonprofit organization devoted to addressing global issues. Exactly how and where it originated is unknown, but the image made one of its first appearances on a page dated 4 August 2016 on the Get Off the BS web site, where it was introduced...

The document appears to be a Wells Fargo Business Market Savings account statement for the KM Khan Law Office, address listed as 415 Madison Ave., Suite 1500, New York, NY. In the transaction history is an 8/1 "Clinton foundation incoming wire" entry credited in the amount of $375,000. One of the first things you'll note about the document, however, is that it's heavily redacted — so heavily that you can't even find a complete date on it anywhere. The second thing you'll notice, if you look carefully, is that the business name is listed twice in the document, and the listings don't match.

First it's listed as "KM KHAN LAW OFFICE":
Then it's listed as "JM KHAN LAW OFFICE":

At some point as the image was being passed around and reposted, someone noticed the discrepancy and created a new version: But if you'll notice, the new version has a defect as well: "KM KHAN LAW OFFICE" — singular — has now become "KM KHAN LAW OFFICES" — plural.

This forged document — pick your favorite version, it doesn't matter — would have been laughed out of a court of law. Indeed, the "evidence" is so inconsistent that it's hard to believe anyone could mistake it, much less try to pass it off, as real. Needless to say, it doesn't prove that Khizr Khan received $375,000 from the Clinton Foundation; all it proves is that someone wants you to think he did.

"...after the debate — which she attended — Broaddrick made another claim that quickly raised eyebrows among reporters and campaign finance experts.

Noah Gray @NoahGrayCNN Broaddrick told me in spin room Breitbart paid for her flight out here

David Catanese @davecatanese Here's VIDEO of Broaddrick saying Breitbart paid for her travel to St. Louis --->

“If the Trump campaign wanted her there, and Breitbart, a corporation, paid for the ticket to assist the Trump campaign, that would be an illegal in-kind corporate contribution,” said Rick Hasen, an expert in campaign finance law at the University of California at Irvine. “But we need to know more facts before we know if that is the case.”

The Trump campaign quickly disputed Broaddrick's account of her travel — ironic, since the premise of her appearance in St. Louis was that people should believe what she says. Breitbart did not respond to a Fix inquiry about travel expenses for Broaddrick.

Breitbart on Sunday published an interview with Broaddrick and two other women, Paula Jones, who alleges that Bill Clinton propositioned her and exposed himself in 1991, and Kathleen Willey, who claims Clinton groped her in 1993. The interview took place in Washington, D.C., some time before all three women traveled to St. Louis to attend the debate and a Trump campaign event. The event was styled like a news conference — or at least, a photo op designed to look like a news conference — and streamed live on Facebook.

Larry Noble, general counsel at the Campaign Legal Center in Washington, said... "I think paying for someone to travel to participate in a campaign event falls outside the media exemption.”

Dan Petalas, the FEC's acting general counsel from August 2015 until last month, agreed that paying for Broaddrick's travel “could exceed the scope of the legitimate press function, if it was a campaign event, not a press event, and thus a contribution if the campaign wanted her there.”
