Attack on Indian restaurant in Santa Fe labeled a hate crime

SANTA FE – In its 30 years of existence, the India Palace restaurant in Santa Fe never had security cameras inside or outside the building.

“We never needed them,” said Baljot Singh, whose father, Baljit, owns the establishment. “Nothing’s ever happened here.”

But something did happen to the restaurant Monday.

Baljit arrived around 1 p.m. to find his restaurant a shambles. Glasses and dishes were smashed, tables flipped over and beautiful artwork destroyed.

The most disturbing part, though, was racist messages sprayed on seemingly every wall in the building, among them “white power” and “I hate sand (expletive).” The Singhs practice Sikhism, although many slurs were directed at Muslims.

What a terrible thing to do.

This is what the irresponsible leadership of DT has brought us.

I bet this guy has worked incredibly hard to keep a nice restaurant like that going.

He doesn't deserve this at all.

That was a hate hoax
