Tropical Storm Gonzalo sets a record as it churns toward the Caribbean

Yayyyyyy! Another victory Trump can credit to himself!

Hardly "churning". More like drifting. Won't have any real signs of its intentions till next week.

Sorry, ma'm, but storms don't have "intentions". It's just a storm moving along in accordance with the laws of the universe. Nothing magical or involving a life of its own.

I wouldn't want to be in Florida this year

Gearing Up for an Active 2020 Hurricane Season

Tropical Storm Gonzalo expected to become first hurricane of season

The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration is predicting an "above-normal" 2020 Atlantic hurricane season, with 13 to 19 named storms. NOAA forecasters said that six to 10 of those storms will become hurricanes and three to six of those would become major hurricanes with 111 mph winds or higher.

Florida has the highest chance of having a hurricane make landfall at 51 percent.

Awesome. Another reason to be happy I moved out of Florida after 12 years.

Hurricanes are a pain in the ass. All fun and games for a few hours until the liquor and ice run out. No power, so no A/C. Can't open a window because the fucking rain is flying sideways hard enough to hurt....then like that for about a day, followed by no power for up to a week. It got to the point where if a hurricane was predicted, I found another place to be. Preferably with air conditioning.

what kind of jackass says they are moving to Florida this September

oh right, truth detector the low grade moron said it

Even more so on the beach. I was always living inland. Mostly 1 and 2s in those days. Just character builders. I was in Texas by the time most of the 3s and 5s hit. I was still in Florida for Andrew, but by that time was vacating the premises someplace else. In that case, the Blue Ridge Mountains at Roanoke, Va.

Some of my squadron mates and I put on our exposure wetsuits and went out to play football when a typhoon eye passed over Okinawa.

Ha! I like it! The only time I start to pay attention to a hurricane is when the seas build over 60 feet. Might spill my coffee......

Up to then it's just a character builder!

BTW, I was on the Independence in '89(?) when CVG-17 took her out of the Philly SLEP and around the Horn to San Diego. We got the living shit beat out of us for over 24 hours and the days on each end didn't allow much steel beach time either. The ship's company had mostly newbies; people that had never been to sea until we began workups. My CVG had just returned from deployment on the Saratoga and it went into SLEP after a Miami port visit. We were extremely fortunate and didn't lose a single man on deployment. When we began workups with the Independence I thought, "Oh, shit. One of those assholes is going to get killed." Fortunately, none were.

This summer was supposed to be hot and dry here in Western Wa.....it has been cool and damp till two weeks ago.

I'll believe it when I see it.

Trump is praying it hits Texas so he can flood it with federal money. He is also praying it hits
Puerto Rico so he can disparage its leaders, say they aren't citizens, do nothing and say other racist things
he wouldn't say about a red state.
