The Russians want peace.....no more assaults from America and Europe.....and there must be some way to deal with what will be constant terrorism from the Bandara's in Rump of Ukraine.....the Russians have no interest in going all the way to Poland, but they will if they must.

Putin has already said he wants to reassemble the Russian Empire, that includes Poland.
 
The US-led Ukrainian coup of 2014 resulted in pro-Russian breakaway regions in Eastern Ukraine which Russia moved to protect. The Russians recognized Donetsk and Luhansk as independent , self -determined states. Without the efforts of John McCain and his gang this would not have happened.
So now it seems that ALL of the pro-Russian regions of Eastern Ukraine ( soon to be renamed, no doubt ) and all of their pro-Russian Ukrainians are to come under Russian protection. This does not mean that Russia has annexed the Donbas- it means that the Donbas will be free of the EU, NATO and Ukrainian neo-Nazism.
