By 2016, Bill Clinton will have collected a total of $16 million in pension payments from taxpayers.

In case you ever get to appear on the tv show Jeopardy

On July 22, 2016, President Obama vetoed the Presidential Allowance Modernization Act, which would have cut the pensions and allowances paid to former presidents.

In his veto message to Congress, Obama said the bill “would impose onerous and unreasonable burdens on the offices of former presidents."

Read that again.....
would impose onerous and unreasonable burdens on former presidents.....

If he had a brain he would have said the costs of financing a former presidents pension, SS coverage, library, offices, free mailing, staff salaries and benefits....and numerous other perks...
would impose onerous and unreasonable burdens on
TAXPAYERS....
most of them are quite well off, far and above what the taxpayers have to exist on and don't NEED MORE money....

Are you retired military?? Are you taking the pension they offered you/you worked for??

Asking a president to cut his own package or any CEO probably gets a chuckle out of them..

Statement from the Press Secretary on the Presidential Allowance Modernization Act of 2016

President Obama shares the goal of streamlining pensions given to former Presidents as a means to reduce costs to taxpayers. He stands ready to work with Congress on legislation to get that done.

Unfortunately, this bill as written would immediately terminate salaries and all benefits to staffers carrying out the official duties of former Presidents – leaving no time or mechanism for them to transition to another payroll. As written, this bill would also impair Secret Service’s ability to protect former Presidents by ending GSA’s role in managing operations, equipment and office space. Under this bill, GSA must immediately terminate leases, and remove furniture from offices of former Presidents working to fulfilling their continued public service responsibilities.

The President’s decision to veto this bill was made after consultations with the offices of each of the former Presidents, and is responsive to concerns they raised to us. We are working with Congress on the technical fixes to resolve these issues. If Congress provides these technical fixes, the President would sign the bill.

Seems to get a chuckle out of some stupid and gullible taxpayers too.....

Incidentally, I didn't get a vote on any pensions I received for working anywhere.....I didn't get to write my own ticket like the thieves in Washington do.....

Excuses, excuses.....these 'retired' presidents are rich enough to pay for their own staffs and offices.....and to buy their own stamps !
Some of them have been sucking the taxpayers titty for most of their lives and got obscenely rich in the process.....

Wake up Miss Gullible of the Year........

No, only the rich get to write their own ticket but you did take the pension etc...........

We don't get to vote on lots of things/many things/hardly anything~that is the system we were born into..

Here in Calif we get to vote on a few more things initiatives/propositions but they can be as bad, if not worse since most folks are not informed & they are written w/ an agenda.. + the courts might just toss it out any way..... WTF??
