Tribe reveals ironic truth about superstar singer’s mansion after ‘stolen land’ speech

You had me at "it's not right." The rest, not so much.

It's a horrible aspect of our history, and one no one should be proud of.
Spanish conquest of the Aztec Empire

February 1519 – 13 August 1521 against the Aztec Empire, after 1529 – 17 February 1530 against the Purépecha Empire

Modern-Day Mexicans are on stolen land

Native American tribes frequently conquered, expanded, and contested land for thousands of years prior to European contact, engaging in warfare for resources, territory, and political dominance. Major examples included the Haudenosaunee (Iroquois) expansion, the Calusa conquering southern Florida, and the Powhatan Confederacy expanding rapidly.

So somebody came along a little more advanced than native Americans and conquered land

So fucking what!

Well, there's morality. Just for starters.

Well, there's morality. Just for starters.
In the mid-19th century, particularly between 1831 and 1848, indigenous groups—most notably the Comanche, Apache, and Navajo—effectively controlled vast areas of northern Mexico, reversing Spanish colonization. They conducted large-scale raids, killing thousands, stealing immense livestock, and forcing the retreat of Mexican settlers, often operating with greater power in the region than the Mexican government.

And than along come the white man and did the same thing to the native American Indians

So fucking what

Didn't you just say that?

  • Indigenous Land Dispossession: The expansion of Canada involved the forced removal or displacement of Indigenous peoples, often described as a process of colonization. Resistance from nations, led by figures like Pontiac and Tecumseh, was ultimately overwhelmed by settler influx and disease.
  • Treaties and "Stolen" Land: While some land was acquired through treaties, many areas—particularly in British Columbia and parts of Alberta—were taken without formal agreements, using the concept of terra nullius (nobody's land).

But no one talks about stolen land in Canada

You sure about that last part?

That's kind of a strawman comparison there.

I love America - but I sure don't like how we were established. It wasn't what a good Christian might support.
But we were established in the same way everywhere else was. You Just have to go back much farther in time is all.

"Everyone else did it" isn't a selling point for me.

And I hold the same POV re: any people who did the same.

We can recognize actions of the past as being wrong & amoral. It's okay.

I do recognize that. But calling it stolen has NO validity in this case when the truth is IT WAS ALL TAKEN all over the world. If one is guilty,...ALL are guilty. NOT just some.

Well, for what it's worth - I didn't think she was making a very good point. There are much stronger arguments to make if someone is against the admin's policy, or the way they're enforcing that policy.
