Trayvon Martin Day declared at D.C. elementary school

We may never know exactly how or why young Trayvon Martin was killed that dark February night in Sanford, Fla., but the slaying which has provoked nationwide protests has now prompted something even more unique nearly 900 miles away.

In an effort to better educate students and their parents about race relations and social injustice, a D.C. elementary school has declared Friday “Trayvon Martin Day.”

this is so stupid.
 
I haven't said much about this so far but this is a problem I have with folks. If Zimmerman is found guilty then let's have Trayvon Martin days all over the nation....but let's wait to find out in a court of law, not just public opinion. There are plenty of cases across the nation that have been decided to use to "better educate students and parents about race relations." Use those if you want to have a day.

We've got a relations day, you know Martin Luther King Jr. Day, inspired by you know, somebody who made a difference and you could actually model yourself after. Not somebody who caught the media's attention by dying to a white, i'm sorry Hispanic guy.
 
most evidence we have points to trayvon acting criminally, as opposed to zimmerman before he was forced to defend himself.

We shouldn't have days for people that committ aggravated assault and battery.
 
I love how they included the phrase "social injustice"; because it appears that they've already decided that Martin is a victim of "social injustice".
I wonder how they feel about the "social injustice" that's been placed on Zimmerman?

you have no evidence at all.....you have newspaper articles and news reports.....nothing you have heard so far has anything at all to do with what will be presented in court....

zimmerman was beaten to a pulp. Multiple head wounds, on his back, etc. this is pretty clear evidence that trayvon was criminally assaulting him. there is no evidence zimmerman committed a crime before the criminal trayvon decided to commit aggravated assault and battery.

You obviously have never seen one " beaten to a pulp", if you think Zimmerman's wounds qualifies as such. When one is beaten to a pulp, there is no facial recognition.

and I repeat....we do not try people in newspaper reports.....you are not a jury....

Who said "beaten to a pulp" (besides yourself)? Is that the only legal definition for battery?

yeah no big deal, only broken nose, multiple headwounds, and on his back being beat up. This is criminal behavior. trayvon acted criminally, there is no evidence zimmerman acted criminally.

They are injuries, but not beaten to a pulp level.
