Why would you choose to pay a fee in addition to mortage and taxes?
All I pay is property taxes unless I buy something but then I pay it off asap. You can never pay of your condo fees.
You are such a slave to materialism that you waste money for appearance sake. If you could truly afford to live there it wouldn't be in a condo.

I guess you rural types don't know how big cities work. Condo and co-op buildings have HOA's and dues. I'm a slave to materialism because I bought what I could afford? So I should never buy a home in SF unless I can afford a $5 million single family home. That is so incredibly ignorant as to be laughable.

Are you a poor in a trailer park Rune? Is that why you have so much anger at your age?

Wouldn't we all! Nothing like the present set-up, that's for sure - and most mugs are so used to capitalist masters that they can't really imagine freedom anyway

So this "freedom" you speak of is some abstact idea not achievable on earth this the inability to actually describe what it is?

You're kinda missing out on some of the advantages of the condo lifestyle. I work my ass off to make a good living and I put in long hours doing so. When I get off work I need to relax, reset and recharge. The last thing I want is a bunch of chores and DIY projects. If I wanted to do more work I can always go back to my desk at the office. The payoff is higher.

So I pay an HOA for my condo and the association has to maintain the exterior of my unit, do the grounds keeping, the land scaping, maintain the pool, park, rec center and work out facility, pick up my garbage, etc.

So I'm paying for valuable services that contribute to my quality of life and give me the flexibility to do other things than household chores and maintenance.

Now you may prefer doing those chores to save some money and that's your perogative...if you don't mind being a slave to a piece of property l.

I wouldn't know what to do with myself in a condo. I enjoy sitting out on the deck looking over the fresh cut grass. Or here in a bit I'm going to go out and bust up some firewood my buddy gave me. A tree fell on his lot and he needed rid of it.

I'm too hyper for a condo lol.

One of these days, when I have time, I'll describe what freedom is to me. I'll bet it's different from what a lot of you think of when you think of freedom. People are different ... their views are different. We're not made from cookie cutters. Heading to church now, though.

I just pointed out some of the advantages of condo living. Both have pros and cons and which one appeals to you can depend on your circumstances. 20 or 30 years from now you may not be so hyper and a condo may appeal to you as it would mean more time to go fishing.
