Torture

POST 315
eff you moron...has nothing to do with courage, as i have already told you

but a liar like you can't accept the truth, so once again....i do not have all the facts of the particular waterboarding so i will not give an opinion on it

would you like me to copy and paste that statement 100 times? would that get through you pee brain? how about 1000 times, would that make it clear to you?

and your calling me a moron is not an insult? to suggest otherwise is ....dare I say it... intellectually dishonest!:pke:

where did i say it was NOT an insult...apparently you just got caught in another lie

POST 315

where did i say it was NOT an insult...apparently you just got caught in another lie

not at all... I was under the impression that you were all upset that I had supposedly insulted you. If you can't take it, you probably ought not to keep dishing it out...wuss.

precisely. you have to be kidding yourself to think that being at a point where you firmly believed that you were about to be executed by drowning would not be severe mental suffering.
Many amusement park rides simulate impending death. Are they torture as well?

so you LIED, i never said what you claimed i said

thank you for admitting that :clink:

and your calling me a moron is not an insult? to suggest otherwise is ....dare I say it... intellectually dishonest!

Name on amusement park ride that simulates impending death? And one in which when you get on it you don't KNOW if you are going to survive to the end of the ride, due to something the ride does?

Cliff Notes:

Southern Man thinks it is not torture to waterboard someone.
He thinks this because the people doing the waterboarding SAY it is not torture.
Yurt seems to be following in SM's footsteps and is not really adding much more.

Maineman believes that waterboarding is torture, as it simulates drowning and drowning usually leads to dying.

Maineman believes that an administration cannot define a crime as a non crime ergo, no matter how much SM says that the Bush Administration say Waterboarding is not torture, that does not make it so.

Lots of rides do this, but your more valid point is of the unknown v known outcome, right?

Waterboarding, it is just like a water slide of death!

Come one, come all! in this water slide you will be breach throughout the whole ride!

The end is unknown!! Come one, come all, have the ride of your life 183 times a month!

This ride is absolutely free to any takers!

That is part of it. But I think the greater question is does your body, during an amusement park ride undergo the kind of stresses that waterboarding induces? Even the CIA's documents say that heart attack is possible. Granted it is also possible on a roller coaster, but most people volunteer to ride the coaster, and people with bad hearts don't ride them.

so you LIED, i never said what you claimed i said

thank you for admitting that :clink:

I never claimed you said anything you didn't. You made a big deal about my "insulting" you, as if that was some sort of heinous crime, while you yourself had quite recently tossed a gratuitous insult my way. If you were not suggesting any degree of parity between them, then that is hypocritical.... if you were inferring that I was the demon here for insulting you while ignoring the fact that you, yourself engaged in that behavior, it was intellectually dishonest. Does that clear it up for you, buddy?:pke:

when have I said that you need to give Obama the benefit of the doubt. Either provide a post of mine where I said that or recant.

and I asked you a simple question.... why can't you answer it?

YURT.... IN YOUR OPINION, if someone put YOU upside down on a board and started pouring water into YOUR mouth and nose to the point where YOU thought YOU were about to drown, would YOU think that such treatment met the definition of torture under the UN Convention? yes or no?

hey yurt:

any comment on this one....buddy?
