It was Exxon scientists in the 1970s who first predicted global warming as a consequence of burning fossil fuels, hardly a bastion of radical liberalism.

Market research is a good avenue for corporations to explore. If they want their corporation to still exist in 50+ years, they'd be wise to understand the market conditions at that time.
