I don't know and neither do you, the numbers are certainly not stacking up at present. There are a number of alternatives to EVs which is just as well as the cost of cobalt, lithium, nickel, manganese and copper are all skyrocketing.

I think we have given Musk too much control of our economy. He is getting to decide what Telsa trucks look like, that there will be no Telsa motorcycles, who gets to use half the satellites in orbit, etc. If he had invented these things, invested the money to build them, or in some other way created them, I could understand. Instead, he has just used his power as a manager to give himself more control. It is basically a subtle form of embezzlement.

At what cost?
The value of Tesla stock is down about 70% and the value of Twitter is most likely a fraction of what he paid for it. Investors in both companies are in a world of hurt.
