Top American Commander in Afghanistan: Taliban Winning

That is incorrect. When he was sworn in as President Bush was acting as CIC every day until Obama was sworn in. There isn't a switch that you turn on and off. The President is CIC as you stated, therefore every action they take is done as CIC. Regardless, you are cutting a fine line and it borders on idiocy.

Enough said.

No, it was a very emotional time and Bush spoke emotionally, not as a CIC. After meeting with the joint chiefs to develop a strategy he toned it down quite a bit. In contrast, Obama used that fact that bin Laden was able to hide effectively as a campaign issue and promised to kill or capture him. *shrug*

And I would serve again if not for a bad knee and the resulting bad hip from jumping out of airplanes in the service of my country.

Why would anyone want to jump out of a perfectly good airplane.
I've always thought of it as the same as being in a moving car and deciding to go for a walk.

that's boarderline retarded.
Do you have a kid?
Would you send that kid to die vs the Taliban?

I do and I would not. They are quilty of being anti-American not 911

What is the end game?

We can send our children to fight, even if they don't want to??

That's news to me; because I always thought that by the time they were of an age to serve, that they were able to make their own decisions.

I have a 6 year old who wants nothing more than to be a soldier. If by 9th grade he feels the same way, I am going to send him to New Mexico Military Institute, which is a good highschool and JR College. If he chooses to be a soldier I will support that choice. If he were 18 right now and chose to enlist, I would go to the recruiter with him, the MEPS station and then take him to the airport to fly to basic training. So while I would not be "sending" him, I would support his choice to go.

My oldest Grandson is in the process of enlisting.
He wants to go into the Army.
I'll worry about him; but I support his decision, because it's HIS DECISION.

as you can see in this picture, there are not a whole lot of muskets being used by Taliban fighters. I see up close what looks like a Moison Nagant bolt action 7.62x54, on Katusha Rocket propelled grenade and more than one automatic weapon, like an AK-47. So much for the musket comment.

I've got one of those 7.62x54's.
I'm waiting to get the old style sniper scope and then having the bolt reworked.
I want to try to sight it in, for about 3/4 of a mile.

Again, although he was the CIC, obviously, he wasn't acting as the CIC at that particular historical moment that I remember quite vividly.

Wan't there an argument, not to long ago, about Obama making comments regarding his Prof. friend.
Was he or wasn't he the CIC when he made them??

You can try and set the 7.62x54 up for a 1300 yard range, but you sre stretching it passed its usefulness by about at least twice.

Sight it in at 200 or 250 yards and you will have a good setup.

I've done it because I love adrenaline...

The same reason that I've tied one hand to a bull and attempted an 8 second ride (many times).

At some point, perhaps you've reached it by now, you'll begin to respect the fragility of your earthly corpus and won't continue to do the things that might irreversibly damage it. The more time that passes, the longer it will take for things to heal or repair -- if they do. I used to think that skydiving would be fun. Used to. ;)

I can't see myself doing that. But strapping two boards on my feet and sliding down a double back diamond covered with frozen snow...

That I've done very often. I learned to ski at 4 years old and I've been every year since.
I was 14 when my older sister gave me a 2 minute lesson. My first boots had laces, and my mom bought them for me to "grow into", and I had to wear bedroom slippers inside of them.

Umm, no that is not true.

"The most important thing is for us to find Osama bin Laden. It is our number one priority and we will not rest until we find him."
- G.W. Bush, 9/13/01

Bush just started saying he wasn't concerned about finding bin Laden after a year of chasing him and failing to get him.
And this would be SM getting owned

Shouldn't what you suggest be considered before engaging in wars that we can't win?

You make my point about it isn't just the weapons and you make a point about the limits of military power .. something Hollywood created Americans have no clue of.

And, the Mosin-Nagant is no match for our more sophistcated weapons. It's been around since the Ice Age.
Ahhh look he knows so little. I own a MN with a scope and a modified bolt handle so that I fire it with the scope. It is accurate as a sniper rifle to 800 meters. It has tremendous knockdown power and kills with great effectiveness.

He wasn't acting as CIC on September 13, 2001. He was expressing the gut emotions of the country. *shrug*
you make every excuse you can for politicians you support. If you go HERE you will see people, including Bush say that he NEVER said that getting bin Laden was not important, just not a WORRY. He claims that we were going to get him and he needed to WORRY about US. Bush failed to get bin Laden and you never complained once.

When I joined the Army I wanted to be a soldier and not some damn pogue just doing his job waiting to ETS. I jumped outta airplanes, repelled from helicopters, repelled down cliffs, participated in SERE school, everything I could do to make the army the most interesting adrenaline pumping job I ever had. I think I succeeded.

I'm told that's a common problem with younger gentlemen but if you stick with it, and take the advice of the more experienced chaps, copying their techniques of handling the beast between their legs, i'm sure you can train yourself to hold on for a few more vital seconds before being tossed off by one of those horny devils.
